About
UGC NET is organized on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the selection of the eligible Indian candidates for different posts like Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship or both. This is for done for the various Indian colleges and universities.
CBSE conducted this exam till June 2018 in 84 different subjects in 91 cities of the country. However, after December 2018, UGC NET is organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The awarding of the Junior Research Fellowship or becoming eligible for Assistant Professor mainly depends on how the candidate performs in Paper I and Paper II of UGC NET. The aggregate performance of the candidate is considered. The candidates who qualify for the post of Assistant Professors will not be considered for JRF. These candidates are governed by the rules and regulations applied for recruiting Assistant Professors of the universities or colleges.
This exam is conducted twice annually. However, due to pandemic, the exam was delayed in 2020. As a result, the exam in 2021 also got delayed.

Admit card
The admit card for the UGC NET 2021 will be released in the month of April. The exam will be conducted for selecting candidates for the post of Assistant Professors and for awarding candidates with Junior Research Fellowship Programme. The candidates will have to show their admit card when they will appear for the exam. They will not be allowed in the exam centre without the admit card. The admit card can be accessed by a candidate by clicking on the link in the official website.
The admit card will be issued to those candidates who have registered successfully for the UGC NET exam by giving the relevant information while filling in the application form. They also have to pay the fee within the stipulated time mentioned. After getting access to the admit cards, the candidates will have to check the details on them. On the day of the test, the candidate must carry their admit card along with a valid ID proof like Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, Passport or Aadhaar Card.
Syllabus
The syllabus for UGC NET 2021 is released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The syllabus for UGC NET syllabus for both Paper I and Paper II was revised in 2019. Hence, no changes have been done to the syllabus in this year.
The syllabus for this exam is based on the existing knowledge of the candidate taking the exam. For the different subjects, the syllabus would be different. One can log in the official website to have a look at the syllabus. UGC NET eligibility is mentioned differently for the different categories. If you apply for this exam even if you do not fulfil the eligibility criteria, your candidature might be cancelled.
To appear for UGC NET 2021, one must be completely aware of the syllabus so that they can prepare in a better manner. One must select a subject that they have studied in their Master’s Degree program or one that is suitable for them.
Paper I tests the teaching and research abilities of a candidate. The questions in this section are generic and not subject oriented. It tests the comprehension, general awareness, reasoning ability and thinking skills of the candidate. It also tests the cognitive skills of the candidate.
Paper II is subject based. The candidate will have to choose one subject for the exam. This paper tests the knowledge of the candidate on the subject that he/she has selected.
Pattern
The exam pattern of UGC NET 2021 will be released by the National Testing Agency. Till December 2018, the exam pattern for UGC NET consisted of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. The exams were held in different sessions. The candidates had to complete both the papers within a fixed time of one and two hours. However the exam pattern was changed in 2019 and the candidates now have to complete both the papers within three hours time. Having an idea about the exam pattern will be better as one will be able to prepare accordingly for the exam.
Cut-off
The cut-off for UGC NET 2021 will be released by the National Testing Agency on the official website after the exam has been held. The candidates can check the UGC NET cut-off for the different subjects and the different categories on the official website of UGC NET. Two separate lists are issued by NT- one is for JRF candidates and the other is for the Assistant Professorship candidates.

Application form
The notification for the application form for UGC NET was released on 2nd February by the National Testing Agency. The notification consists of the important details about UGC NET like dates, eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern, and declaration of results and so on. The candidates who will be sitting for the exam must go through the complete notification for UGC NET 2021 before they even apply for the exam.
UGC NET application form was released along with this notification for the application form. The last date for applying online for the exam was extended from 2nd March to 9th March. The National Testing Agency extended the deadline so that the candidates could fill in the application form and pay for the exam fee till 10th March. They took this decision after receiving many requests from the candidates in this matter. The application fee for General category is Rs 1000, for General-EWS and OBC-NBL is Rs 500 and for SC/ST/PwD/ Transgender is Rs 250.
Counselling
UGC NET 2021 counselling schedule will be released on the official website by the University Grants omission. The candidates who have qualified can check the official website to know about the schedule for counselling.
The candidate will have to confirm the date of counselling by visiting the official website of UGC NET. The candidate will have to decide their course choice before appearing for the counselling session. However, the course the person will get will depend on the rank.
For appearing for the counselling session, the candidates will have to carry some documents with them. A photocopy of the counselling letter, all original certificates of class 10 and 12 board exams and also photocopies of the same, original admit card along with a photocopy of the admit card, rank card or score card, bank draft as per the guidelines mentioned in the prospect on UGC NET prospect, medical documents mentioned on the application form of UGC NET, 4-6 passport size color photographs, community certificate for SC/ST/OBC/Other category students.
Result
The UGC NET result for 2021 will be announced by the National Testing Agency on the official website. You can log into the account using the valid credentials like date of birth, application number and security pin of the candidate. This will give you access to the UGC NET result 2021.
One must take a print out of the exam result for further reference purposes. The candidates who will be able to attain the cut-off score as per their category will be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor at different colleges in India. or else, they could be sponsored under Junior Research Fellowship. The top fifteen percent students are considered for the post of Assistant Professors in the different colleges.

Answer key
The answer key for UGC NET will be released by the National Testing Agency after the exam is over. Along with the final answer key, NTA will also release the cut-off list for 2021. Based on this final key, UGC NET result 2021 will be declared.
The provisional UGC NET 2021 answer key will be released by the National Testing Agency in June 2021. The candidates can also challenge the provisional answer key responses. A date for that will also be mentioned in the official website.

Eligibility
It is extremely important to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the UGC NET exam. This will help one to avoid confusion and misunderstanding in the long run.
- The students must have scored 55 percent aggregate marks in the post graduation exam.
- The candidates must be less than 31 years of age for becoming eligible for JRF.
- There is no age restriction when applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
- For the reserved category students, a relaxation of five percent in educational qualifications is given.
- The reserved category students will get a relaxation of five years in their age.
- The candidates, who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) before 1st June, 2002 are exempted from appearing in the UGC NET exam.
