A. Ever since National Testing Agency started to conduct this exam, this test is conducted in online and computer based mode.
Q. For how many subjects will the UGC NET exam be conducted?
A.The exam will be conducted for 81 subjects.
Q. What is the maximum age limit for applying for UGC NET exam?
A. For applying for JRF, you must be below 30 years. There is no age limit for applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
Q. How many papers does a candidate have to clear for qualifying in the UGC NET test?
A. You will have to pass both the papers for qualifying for UGC NET exam.
Q. Is there any negative marking system in UGC NET?
A. No, there is no negative marking in UGC NET. Candidates get zero marks for an incorrect answer or for any question left unanswered.
A.What is the validity of a UGC NET eligibility certificate?
A. Since there is no prescribed validity period for the eligibility certificate for Assistant Professor, one can understand that this is valid for a lifetime. The JRF award letter is valid for three years time from the date of issuing of the letter.
Q. Can I select the post for which a candidate wants to take the UGC NET exam?
A. One can select the role of Assistant Professor or JRF or both at the time when a person will be filling up the application form.
Q. Who are exempted from sitting in UGC NET exam?
A. Candidates with the below mentioned qualifications cannot sit for UGC NET exam:
- The candidates who have cleared SET exam
- PhD degree holding individuals
- Candidates who have cleared the UGC/CSIR JRF exam before 1989
