These motivate them and also guide them about which strategies they can use to get better marks. While you may try a same approach, but using the same strategy like the topper may not have the same result for you. You are a different person from the topper. Hence your mental capacity, learning ability is different. Hence, it is advisable that you do not blindly follow anyone. Rather adopt the good points from their preparation and make your own exam strategy.
Not aware of the syllabus
It is not a good thing that you have started the preparation for the exam and you are not aware of the syllabus. Visit the UPSC official website and look at the ESE 2021 exam syllabus. Keeping a note of the syllabus will be beneficial as you will be aware of the topics that you need to study. This will prevent you from wasting time reading about topics that is not relevant for the exam.
Clear your concepts
If you are not clear about the concepts, then reading multiple books during the preparation will only lead to a wastage of time and energy. Hence, one should clear their concepts first. Read a book, and then take notes from that book. Once you have finished it, and then go to the next book.
