The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private multi-disciplinary university located in Dehradun. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited with Grade ‘B’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). UPES is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Admission Process:

• University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the admission process every year via online mode. In the academic year of 2021, the admission process ended in February.
• For admission to UPES, the interested candidates can apply directly from the official website. Along with the online application, UPES also provides international admissions. 
• The University conducts its own entrance test and the candidates are offered seats based on the UPES Cut Off.

Eligibility Criteria:

According to the courses, the eligibility criteria of the UPES vary. The minimum eligibility criteria for all the courses are tabulated below:

BBA	The applicants must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the 10th and 10+2 examinations from a recognized board.
B.Des	A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate should be secured by the candidates in their 10+2 exam from any recognized board. The candidate must have a valid score card in JEE MAIN/UCEED.
B.Tech/ B.Tech [Hons.]	The candidates must have passed their 10th and (10+2) level with a minimum of 50% in aggregate and also must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at 12th.  The candidates should possess a valid score in JEE Main Examination and UPESEAT examination. If any candidate has scored 80% and above in 10th and 12th standard with an aggregate of 80% or more in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics then he/ she will be eligible for Admission through the Board Merit.
BA	The candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% in aggregate at the 10th and 10+2 level examinations from a recognized board.
BA / B.Com [Hons.]	The candidates must have passed the 10th and 12th final exams with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. The candidates must have a valid score card of CLAT/ LSAT/ULSAT.
BBA [Hons.]	The candidates must have passed the 10th and 12th final exam with at least 50% marks and they must have cleared CLAT/ LSAT.
BCA	The applicant must have secured a minimum of 50% in 10th and 12th with the subjects including Mathematics, CS, or IT as the primary subject in the 12th.
B.Pharm	The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% in the 10th exam and at least 50% in aggregate in the 10+2 level examination with PCM/ B and English as major subjects. The selection will be done through UPES-PAT.
MBA	The candidates must have passed 10th, 12th, and Graduation level examinations (Engineering in relevant field/ B.Sc with PCM) with a minimum of 50% in aggregate. UPES conducts its own entrance test [UPESMET] offering admissions into management courses. The candidates with a valid CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ CMAT scorecard will be given special preference for admission. Any candidates with 75% and above score in MAT/CMAT,70% and in MAT/CMAT, a minimum score of 550 in GMAT, a minimum of 140 scores in NMAT will be exempted from the UPES Management Entrance Exam. The candidates will be invited for Group Discussion and Personal Interview after the selection.
B.Sc	The candidate must have passed 10th and 12th with Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Maths and English as primary subjects.
M.Des	The candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination and Graduation with a minimum of 50% in aggregate. They must have completed their B.Tech / BE/ B. Arch/ BFA/ B.Des / Interior Design/ BVA in Applied Arts/ B.Sc with minimum of 50% in aggregate  (OR) The applicant must have completed a 3-year degree course equivalent to a B.Sc./ BA/ BFA/ BVA in Applied Art/ Design along with one-year work experience in the relevant industry  (OR) The candidate must have passed M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Computer Science, CSE, IT domains, or subjects.
M.Tech	The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% at the 10th & 12th level and the candidate must have completed his/her B. Tech/ BE in the relevant field.  The candidate should have a valid GATE score card or a valid score in the entrance exam conducted by the university.
LLM	Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% in aggregate at 10th as well as 12th level and LLB Degree
M.Sc	Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% at 10th & 12th level with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology as major subjects  OR The candidates should have passed graduation in relevant subjects with a minimum of 50% in aggregate from any recognized university.
MA	The candidate must have passed their 10th, 12th, and graduation exam with a minimum of 50% in aggregate in any stream.

• Oracle: UPES and Oracle have entered into a partnership to introduce a Workforce Development Program (WDP) which is integrated into UPES' existing BCA and BTech programs.

UPES Scholarship:

• The University also offers several other scholarships for UG and PG students. Details regarding the same are mentioned below:
• Scholarship for BDes students: BDes students of UPES are awarded a scholarship based on their Class 10th and 12th aggregate marks. Candidates, who have secured at least 80% in aggregate at the 10th and 12th level, may get a tuition fee waiver of 50% for the first semester.
• Scholarship for BPharm, DPharm, BSc (Hons), BCA, BCom, BSc, and BBA students: Students with at least 75% in class 10th and 12th are awarded a scholarship which will facilitate a tuition fee waiver of 50%.
• Scholarship for MSc (Hons), MDes, and MA students:  A reduction of 50% in tuition fee is given to the candidates who have secured 60% marks in aggregate at Class 10, Class 12, and graduation.
• Scholarship for LLM students: LLM students are awarded a scholarship basing on the marks secured in Class 10, Class 12, and graduation exams. The candidates, who have secured an aggregate of 75% in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, can get a reduction of 50% tuition fee for the first semester.
• Scholarship for Uttarakhand State Board toppers. BBA, BTech, BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and BCom LLB (Hons) students, who have secured 80% in an aggregate at 10th and 12th level with PCM in the Uttarakhand State Board are awarded this scholarship. Generally, this scholarship is given to 150 toppers of the UK State Board. Under this scholarship, 25% of tuition is reduced for boys and 35 percent for girls in the first year.
• Domicile Benefits: UPES provides a 33% concession on the Tuition Fee for Uttarakhand domicile students on merit-cum-means basis after fulfilling all the conditions. 

1. The student’s gross annual family income should not exceed INR 8 lakhs.
2. The student should submit all the necessary documents attesting to this fact.
3. The student should have a valid 'Sthai Niwas Praman Patra'/'Mool Nivas Praman Patra'/'Adhiwas Niwas Braman Patra' from Uttarakhand state.

Placement Graph:

UPES offers placements under various sectors, including Consulting, E-Commerce, IT & Software, BFSI, and more. According to the recent survey in 2020, a total of 94% of students until December, and the drive was conducted till March 2021. Apart from these placements, UPES also offers summer internships to all UG and PG students

UPES School of Computer Science and School of Design recorded a 100% placement rate for both the academic year of 2019 and 2020. On the other hand, UPES School of Law and School of Business have seen a slight drop in placements by 1.95% and 12.12%, respectively.
