Where to Do Hotel Management Internships?

Hotel Management is one of the most sought courses, which provides the students a broad knowledge about the hospitality sector in India. Itis the study of the hotel industry where the students are trained to work in various hospitality sectors in various specializations like Hospitality Management, Hotel and Tourism Management, Hotel Administration, and Catering Technology. A hotel manager will be imparted skills on how to manage the Hotels, motel, resort, and other hospitality sectors. 

Career in Hotel Management: 

For making a career in Hotel Management, a minimum qualification of 10+2 is required. Certified Diploma and degree course are two other options that students can opt for after their 12th boards. For Hotel Management in Government Colleges, an entrance is held every year in April- NCHM JEE.

Top Hotels to do Hotel Management Internship: 

Internship in Hotel Management course is very vital as this internship carries weightage in the final semester of Hotel Management courses. For internships in Hotel Management, one needs to have good communication skills and also need to learn to interact properly with guests. Also, they need to have the ability to work under pressure and also need to stay focused on the jobs in their hands.

The easiest way to get an internship in Hotel Management is through college. Some of the internship courses require some industrial training knowledge, which is provided by the college itself. Mostly, Students apply for internships directly in the hotels by contacting their HR or training department and enquire whether they have any vacancy or not. All they need to do is send their CV directly to HR. Once the CV is shortlisted, they will be called for an interview.

The Oberoi Hotels:

Internships at Oberoi Hotels, Delhi is approximately six months. However, sometimes duration can be shortened to 17 weeks or can be extended up to one year. A maximum of 40 students is offered internships in a single batch.

How to apply: Colleges can directly contact HR and send the resume of the

students. Or else, they can directly contact the training department and send them their

CV, on their own.

Summer batch: This batch internship is done in February. Internships start in May and continue till the next six months.

Winter Batch: This batch internship is done in September and the internship starts
from November.

Stipend: Oberoi hotels offers a stipend of rs 8000-24000 per month, to its interns.

Leela palace hotels and resorts:

Leela palace offers a 17-week internship to students pursuing hotel management from the Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs). The students from other colleges will have an internship duration of up to 22-week.

How to Apply: Leela college mostly hires students for internships only if the college

recommends them. Interested students can also apply for internships by contacting the

training department on their own.

When: An internship at any of the Leela hotels are for a minimum of 17 weeks and can

last up to 22 weeks.

Summer batch: Only 10 students are selected for this internship round. The interview for this batch is conducted in March and the internship starts in June or July.

Winter batch: Nearly 15 students are selected in this batch. The interview for this batch is conducted in August and the internship starts in either September /October.

Stipend: Approximate stipend students earn during their six-month internship at Leela is Rs 1,800 to Rs 16,000 per month.

Marriott Hotel:

In Marriott Hotels, one such rare hotel where the students are asked to work in various other departments the front office, housekeeping, food & beverage service, and kitchen. Students can here pursue an internship for six months.

How to Apply: Colleges can get in touch with the HR department of the Hotels or else the students can directly contact with training departments themselves.

When:  Internships here last up to six months.

Summer batch: The summer batch starts in June/July.

Winter Batch: The winter batch starts in December or the start of January.

Stipend: Students are offered around Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 per month as stipends at Marriot Hotel.

Taj Group of Hotels:

The Taj Group of Hotels offers four-and-a-half to six-month industrial training to students at all hotel management. If the authorities feel that a student can intern at other departments then students are allowed to work with the hotel staff in the HR as well as the Sales Department.

How to Apply: Students can contact the HR of the hotel and send their CVs. Once they are shortlisted, they will be called for an interview. 

When: The internships here are divided into two batches.

Summer batch: This batch starts in May and by February end all internship posts in the summer batch of Taj are closed. Candidates are selected for internships based on interviews which are held in January and February. 

Winter Batch: This batch starts in November/ December and by July end, all internship vacancies for the winter batch are closed. Candidates are shortlisted for internships based on interviews held in June/ July.

Stipend: Taj pays a stipend of about Rs 2,000 to Rs 25,000 per month, to the selected students.

Westin Hotel and Resorts:

Westin Hotel and Resorts is an extremely popular choice for internship by hotel management students This hotel group provides internships to students at all departments which are front office, housekeeping and kitchen, food and beverage services, and operations.

How to Apply. Westin Hotels and groups mostly prefer students directly from the colleges. It doesn’t give much importance to the students who have directly applied on their own.

When: It offers internships in two batches.

Summer batch:  Near about 60 students are selected in this batch. It starts in the month of either June or July. 

Winter Batch: A total of 80 students are selected for it. The internship starts in September/ October.

Stipend: In Westin Hotels and Resorts, the stipend offer changes from one hotel to another. It offers Rs 14,000 to Rs 15,000 per month as a stipend to students during internship.
