KIIT University Making 450 bedded Hospital in KIMS to Fight COVID19
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), formerly KIIT University, Bhubaneswar Making 450 bedded Hospital in its Kalinga Institute of Medical Science(KIMS) to Fight against COVID-19. The State Government of Odisha signed tripartite agreements with two private hospitals-SUM and Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) at Loka Seva Bhawa here to set up 1000-bedded state-of-the-art hospitals in Bhubaneswar for treatment of COVID-19 patients. Among them, 450 bedded hospital with having ICU facilities will build in KIMS.
The MoU was signed by Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal, OMC MD Vineel Krishna and KIIMS Management to set up a 450 bedded hospital. Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL) will provide the CSR funding for the purpose. Both the new facilities will be functional in a fortnight.
Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar is a world-class multi-disciplinary deemed to be university located in Odhisa. It had its inception in 1992 by famous educational and social entrepreneurs, Dr. Achyuta Samanta and in 1997 the degree courses were started. KIIT offers a variety of UG, PG and Doctoral Courses in multiple disciplines.
Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar was established in 2007. KIMS is a constituent of KIIT University. The medical institute is a deemed university. Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences is being given the distinction of a deemed university by the Universities Grants Commission (UGC) of India. Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences is also acknowledged and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI). The Medical College has 21 academic departments, providing the study, treatment and prevention of human diseases and maternity care.
A communiqué issued by the Chief Minister Office (CMO) said “Following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s direction to provide state-of-the-art facilities to coronavirus patients, Odisha has planned to set up two biggest COVID-19 hospitals in the country,”
