Introduction along with thesis statement

Do’s Don’ts
First impression should last long, so this section has to be flawless.  Avoid using passive voice and you will have the readers glued to your essay.

Body paragraph that includes statistics, all relevant information, research on the topic, and so on.

Do’s Don’ts
Put all things together and do not forget to use transition words, while you do so. Do not be too general. Do not write long explanatory details about your experiences. Few well drafted lines will do the job.

Conclusion that focuses on supportive arguments, a call to action statement and thesis statement.

Do’s Don’ts
The conclusive statement should be powerful. Here, you need to restate your thesis statement with confidence. Never copy the introduction paragraph here. However, you can rephrase it creatively. You need to show here the writing skills that you have.

Picking the topic

Either you are provided with a topic or you have the freedom to choose the topic while writing a good essay. When you are writing the essay, think of the final outcome that you want the reader of the essay to read. Do you want to give a general view or do you plan to give a specific analysis of the issue? When you have an assigned topic, it becomes a bit easy as you have a fixed topic on which you can focus and write. But if you need to choose a topic, think of the purpose of your essay first. Whatever subject you choose, make sure you have enough good ideas about it and you are focussed about the subject.

Outlining the ideas for the essay

Organising your thoughts is the pivotal thing while writing a good essay. Whatever ideas you have, you need to write them down so that you can outline them and give them shape later. Writing down the topic in a page and then mentioning the main ideas is a good way to sort it out. Under the main ideas, you can leave space so that you can write small ideas below them. In this way, you will see that you have formed a connection and this will enable you to write an effective essay.

Writing the thesis statement

After the topic had been selected and the ideas have been sorted by you, you need to go about writing the thesis statement. This tells the reader what you want to tell in the essay. The thesis has two parts. The first portion tells about the topic while the second portion tells about the purpose of the topic.

Writing the body of the essay

While writing a good essay, it is important to have an engaging body which throws light on the topic and explains it to the reader. Whatever ideas you jotted down earlier needs to be there in the body that is segregated into different body paragraphs. The smaller ideas can be jotted down in simple points to further link them together.

Writing the introduction

While writing the introduction, you need to make it attractive so that it shows the focus of the essay. You must write it in a way so as to grab the attention. One can use a good quote, a shocking piece of information, a dialogue or even a simple story.  Whatever angle you want to present, one must ensure it gels well with the thesis statement.
Writing the conclusion

The conclusion is a summation of the topic and provides a final perspective of the topic. The concluding paragraph must consist of three to five sentences which reviews the main points.

Adding the finishing touch to the essay

While writing a good essay, after writing the conclusion many individuals feel that their job is done. But that is not the case. You need to check the paragraphs, their order, whether they are making sense and so on. Different institutions follow different formats and while checking, see that you have followed the given format. Re-read the paper two or three times so that any changes required can be done and any grammatical mistakes can be eliminated.

Once you are done with the above points, you now have a good and an effective essay with the help of which you can impress anyone.
