Students interested in making crafts and design be must be looking after various courses or Institutes to make their careers in designing and showcase their talents. IICD is one such institute that provides various scopes in designing careers. Admissions in IICD take place through the merit list of the IICD entrance exam.
IICD entrance exam is a national level test conducted by the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD), to provide admission into various B.Des and M.Des level courses offered by the university, under the aegis of Rajasthan ILD Skills University (RISU). The registration for IICD started on 21st December 2020. The last date to apply for IICD is on 21st April 2021. Candidates will have to pay the application fee of Rs. 1500/- through online mode. Admit Card is dated to be released on 1st June 2021. The exam date is yet to be announced. Students who have passed class 12 from a recognized board or those who are appearing in the exam can also apply for the IICD exam can apply for all B.Des programs.

Soft Material Design: Students pursuing their career in Soft Material Design need to employ traditional and innovative skills in designing materials like textiles, leathers, paper, natural fibers, and other evolving soft materials that can create solutions that span many disciplines and sectors.
Hard Material Design: Hard Material Design provides the students an opportunity for extensive explorations and designing various hard materials such as wood, metal, stone, etc. The main aim of the hard material design specialization is to amalgamate the design theories, concepts, ideas, etc. in such a way that it may serve to be part of the Indian craft repertoire.
Fired Material Design: Clay is one of the most important materials used by humans. From the then times, the terracotta craft is one major contributor in unraveling the evolution of fired clay designs. Humans have been accustomed to making crafts of fired clay products for enhancing their daily needs set in their cultural environment. Students pursuing their career in Fired Material Design at IICD explores all those materials which require processing through high temperatures to be formed in aesthetically pleasing functional products.
Fashion Clothing Design: Fashion Clothing Design aims to have infused a deeper understanding of traditional craft knowledge in clothing and infuse new ideas to make the clothing style more aesthetic. This specialization encourages the student to learn more ideas and showcase their creative approach towards crafts.
Crafts Communication: Communication and crafts are inter-linked. All the crafts, no matter their type, communicate some emotions to the beholder- they give cues on the function of the object. Communication design can be used to effectively document (exhibition design), analyze (design thinking), storytelling (publication design), promote (branding), sell (social media and e-commerce) and protect (package design) a craft.
Jewelry Design: IICD after collaborating with IIGJ (Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery), is providing Jewellery Design specialization in both UG and PG programs from the year 2021. IICD and IIGJ both have created this unique program with expertise.
