1. India's 1st public-private University:
UPES was established in 2003 by an act of the state of Uttarakhand and is India's first public-private university. The University is a non-profit entity managed by the Hydrocarbons Education & Research Society. ii. Uurja:
Its most famous cultural programs takes place on the UPES campus in the month of October every year. The Uurja function takes place for 2 days. It is a full of entertainment programs with sports. The most attractive things in the function are the games and concerts. Celebrities are invited to the cultural programs to entertain the students.
iii. Ignite:
The first techno-legal-management festival in India. It was recently celebrated in the month of February.
iv. UPES SPE Festival:
This festival is being celebrated since 2010 which is India's largest student-organized petroleum engineering fest under the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Other activities include Gems Instrublitz, an instrumental competition organized by the UPES GEMS team, and Kalakriti, a chart painting competition organized to spread awareness.
