All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a university-level entrance exam for admission to B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M, and Ph.D. programs. This is a national-level exam that is conducted once a year for various law courses. The exam helps candidates get admission into various UG and PG law courses at National Law University, Delhi. National Law University Delhi (NLU-Delhi) is a specialized law university offering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is one of the elite national law schools in India built on the five-year law degree model proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India.

NLU(National Law University) Delhi has released the application form of AILET 2021 on 23rd January. The last date of submission of the application form is 20th May 2021.

It is necessary for candidates to know the important dates of AILET exam details. The exam is conducted once in a year. Check all important dates of AILET 2021 in the table below.

AILET 2021 Admit Card

National Law University will release the admit card of AILET 2021 (All India Law Entrance Test) on 5th June 2021 officially for registered candidates. To download the admit card, candidates have to log in, select the test city and its corresponding test center. No hard copy of the admit card will be sent to the candidate via post. Candidates must make their top priority to take a printout of the admit card to the examination hall as it is a mandatory document.

  • Log into the admit card link using your name and application number
  • Click on submit to view the admit card
  • Take a printout of the admit card

AILET 2021 Syllabus

Syllabus for English:

English section will include the questions from vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, word usage, Para jumble, grammar, reading comprehension, and foreign words/ phrases, etc.

Syllabus for Legal Aptitude:

In this section, important topics are, strict liability, the law of crimes, torts, vicarious liability, contracts, and constitutional law, legal awareness and international law, etc.

Syllabus for Reasoning:

Logical reasoning will be based on the topics series, directions, syllogism, analogies, blood relations, critical reasoning, etc.

Syllabus for GK and Current Affairs:

This section will include questions from current affairs, sports, awards and honors, internal events, UN bodies, history, general science, economics, geography, civics, eminent personalities, etc.

Syllabus for Mathematics:

In this section, the candidate’s knowledge of elementary Mathematics, that is, Maths taught up to Class X will be tested.

AILET 2021 Exam Pattern:

AILET 2021 exam will be of 90 minutes. The exam will be 150 marks. B.A.LL.B (Hons) – it will have 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and  LL.M. – It will have 100 multiple choice questions and one essay-type question on law. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

AILET 2021 Cut-off

Candidates need to meet AILET cutoffs to secure admission in all the programs in law offered at National Law University (NLU). After the AILET results are declared, NLU Delhi releases separate merit lists informing about the name and other details of candidates selected for admission. This merit list is released marks-wise, roll number-wise and category-wise. The AILET cut-off comprises the minimum mark a candidate has to secure in order to get admission into the law programs offered by NLU Delhi. The cut-off varies from category to category.

AILET 2021 Application Form

The application form for AILET 2021 has been available to candidates at the official website of NLU, Delhi. Candidates will have to register and fill up the application form online. Candidates have to submit the filled application form along with payment before the last date of registration in order to appear for the AILET.

Steps to apply for AILET 2021

  • Go to the official website nludelhi.ac.in
  • Click on Admission 2021 link
  • A new page will open on the screen
  • Click on "click here to apply"
  • New user register 1st the University admission portal by click on the new registration
  • After register fill the application form by giving the required details
  • Then upload scanned photo and signature
  • Pay the application fee then submit

Interested candidates should apply online on payment of application fee of Rs.3,050/-(Rupees Three Thousand Fifty Only). Application fee can the case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PWD) is Rs.1,050/-(Rupees One thousand Fifty Only). Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of the SC/ST category are exempted from the application fees. 

AILET Counseling

National Law University Delhi (NLU), Delhi will start the online counseling process of AILET 2021 (All India Law Entrance Test) for both B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M.  The authorities have to release the list of names who are invited for the online counselling process.

  • Download admission call letter

Documents required during the counseling process:

  • AILET 2021 admission letter issued by NLU Delhi.
  • AILET 2021 scorecard.
  • AILET 2021 admit card.
  • Self-Attested copy of Class 10 & Class 12 marks sheets
  • Self-Attested copy of Character Certificate from the school/college last attended.
  • Self-Attested copy of Transfer Certificate
  • Demand Draft of the Admission Fee of Rs. 50,000 drawn in favor if NLU, New Delhi

AILET 2021 Result

National Law University Delhi (NLU), Delhi will announce the result of AILET 2021 (All India Law Entrance Test) officially for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M. Candidates can check their results and download their scorecards by logging into their AILET 2021 account.

AILET 2021 Answer Key

AILET Answer key consists of all the correct answers to the questions asked in the entrance exam. The answer key is generally released after the exam. The answer key helps aspirants in calculating the total number of questions for which they have marked as the correct answer through which they can analyze their performance in the exam.

AILET 2021 Eligibility Criteria:

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) (Five-Year Programme)

Candidates should have passed Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination in any discipline with 50% marks. Students appearing in the 12th standard examination in March/April 2017 can also apply.
Age: Applicants should be below 20 years while appearing the exam (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates). Class 12th appearing candidates are also allowed to apply for the exam. 

LL.M. (One year)

Eligibility: Aspirants should complete LL.B. or an equivalent degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). Candidates appearing in the final year exam of LL.B are also eligible to register for AILET 2018 exam. 

Ph.D. Programme

Eligibility: Applicants having an LL.M. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability) are eligible for the examination.

AILET 2021 FAQs

Q:  Can I fill the application form offline?
A:  No, the application form will only be available in online mode at the official website of NLU, New Delhi.

Q:  Which colleges accept the AILET score?
A:  The AILET score is accepted by only one college i.e. the National Law University, New Delhi

Q:  Is there any lateral entry option for B.A. LLB in NLU, Delhi
A:  No, there is no such provision for lateral entry into the BA LLB course in NLU, Delhi.

Q:  Can a candidate avail multiple category benefits during the time of admission?
A:  No, a candidate will avail any one of the benefits during the admission.

Q:  Is there any age limit for AILET?
A:  The supreme court has removed the age bar for AILET.

Q:  What is the application fee for AILET?
A:  The application fee for AILET according to the different category is mentioned below:

  • General - Rs 3,050/-
  • Sc/ST/PwD - Rs 1050/-
  • Kashmiri Migrant/ Foreign National - Rs. 3050/-

Q:  Can I get my admit card through the post?
A:  The admit card will only be available on the official website of NLU, Delhi. Candidates can get their admit card through online only.

Q:  What is the total number of seats offered in NLU, Delhi through AILET?
A:  A total of 70 seats are offered through AILET and 10 seats directly to foreign nationals on a merit basis.

Q:  What are the documents and their specifications needed to be uploaded during the form filling of AILET?
A:  Specifications of the documents needed to be uploaded are:

  • Photo - It should be in JPEG format and less than 150KB
  • Signature -  It should be in JPEG format and less than 150KB

Q:  Is there any negative marking in AILET?
A:  Yes, AILET has negative marking. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Q:  Is AILET tougher than CLAT?
A:  As the number of seats offered through AILET is much less than offered by CLAT, it is generally tougher due to the competition.

Q:  Is there any reservation in terms of seats at NLU, Delhi?
A:   15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST and 3% seats for Persons with Disabilities, One seat for Kashmiri Migrants, and two supernumerary seats for students from J&K subject to the approval of Governing Council are reserved in NLU, Delhi through AILET.
