GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2021 is a national examination which is conducted for getting admission in Postgraduate programs and Doctoral programs. This year two new subjects have added in GATE 2021. The candidates now can appear exam for two papers. The new paper added to exam are- Humanities and Social Science (XH) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES).
The mode of GATE 2021 exam will be CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. The duration given to candidates will be three hours i.e. 180 minutes. The exam pattern has been revised. There will 65 questions and a total mark of GATE 2021 exam is 100 marks. Candidates can appear for General Aptitude and Selected Subject by them.
The GATE 2021 Electrical Engineering paper code is EE. The Electrical Engineering paper consists of three sections that are:
- General Aptitude will be same for every candidate.
- Engineering Mathematics
- Core Subject (Electrical Engineering)
The exam GATE 2021 paper consist both objective type and Numerical type questions. As per revised pattern of GATE 2021 exam it also includes:

MCQs (Multiple Choice questions):
Candidates are given four options from which one option is correct. Each correct answer carry 1 or 2 mark. If choose wrong answer mark will deducted. For 1 mark questions- 1/3 mark will be deducted and for 2 mark questions- 2/3 mark will be deduct.

MSQs (Multiple Select Questions):
In this section candidates are provided with four options. They have to select one or more than one correct answers. The mark for correct answer is 1 or 2. There will be no negative marking in this section.

NAT (Numerical Answer Type):
These section questions are numerical based answers. Candidates have to give answer in decimal number, real number or integer. For each correct answer it carries 1 or 2 mark. There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
The marks distribution for Electrical Engineering paper in GATE 2021 exam is following:
- General Aptitude-15 marks
- Core subject (Electrical Engineering)-72 marks
- Engineering Mathematics-13 marks
