Amid the growing Covid19 situation and lockdown of the country, the govt had asked every university to close down as a preventive measure. However, to not hamper the education process, the universities are going online. Delhi University (DU) has integrated google classrooms and hangouts as a part of their online teaching. To provide learning support to students, Google Services are integrated with the DU domain, including emails, etc. Two of their major apps viz. Google Classes and Google Hangouts have been integrated.
The teachings are also going online through platforms such as skype, zoom, webx, etc. These services are now very well integrated with your DU email account, just log in and click on the top right (multi dot icon) and you will get multiple apps.
How the Service Works?
Google Classroom: It works like LMS (learning management system), you can share any type of document (doc, ppt, pdf, etc.), create assignments, share links, conduct online tests (assessment). You can create multiple classes as per your requirement.
Hangout: This service is for the live video interaction with your students. You can run this along with the google classroom or as per your requirement and convenience. Here also you can share multiple things (including your laptop/mobile screen) with your students along with your live video.
However, the Professors are still facing the challenges to connect to many students either due to slow internet or non-availability of the network in various areas from where the students hail. Many students also do not possess a laptop for which they are not able to access the online classes. As a result of which the Professors have asked the authority to delay the Semester Examinations.
