How To Keep Self Busy After College With No Jobs?

In the current wake of unemployment hitting almost across all the continents, finding a job right after graduation is seemingly a far-fetched dream. Sprucing up resumes for the umpteenth time and relentlessly searching for a professional engagement can indeed frustrate and leave you in despair. You can fight this wait by remaining active and productive throughout the lean patch. You have a gamut of choices to keep yourself at the edge of your seat and on your feet at all times.

Volunteering for a social cause

If you are the helping and compassionate kind always eager to extend assistance and support to weak, neglected, or downtrodden communities then this is the time to volunteer for their well-being. You can join NGOs or similar social help forums to stand up for the ones who need you the most. It can help you learn important life skills like adaptability and resilience which could turn out to be immensely handy in your future. An opportunity to meet new people could turn out to be a boon since your horizon and network would increase and you could land up a job. Additionally, if you find empathetic actions as your true calling, this becomes a career choice as well.

Work and earn as a freelancer

Freelancing is perhaps the healthiest of options as you can earn, study and be your boss – all at the same time from the comfort of your home. Not only will it make you sharper and a good time manager, but it will also enhance your skill-set and add to your professional profile. You reach out to more people and your chance of cracking into any sector increases manifold.

Learning a new skill

This is the right time to enrol in a course or learn something that you heart of. You can start writing a book or join an online creative writing course. You may weigh the option of working as an intern for an ad agency or as a columnist in a local news agency. Learning a craft could also be quite engaging and profitable in the long run. This can serve as an avenue to earn extra bucks alongside your regular professional engagement in your chosen stream.

Following your passion

The object of your passion could be completely different from your choice of vocation but the satisfaction derived from giving wings to your dream is indeed unparallel. It could be singing, painting, yoga, paramedics, swimming, sculpting, or mimicry – take your time and take it forward as much as you want to even if it is remotely connected to your chosen career. Giving yourself time will keep you occupied and strengthen you from within to fight the odds in the professional arena.

Starting with a start-up

Not getting a job is a completely natural phenomenon but if you are a workaholic and remaining busy is what keeps you ticking, plan a start-up in your area of expertise. It could be a franchisee, a tie-up, or a cloud kitchen but the challenge of making it work in the competition is an occupation worth every penny. Do not fret and fume even if you fail to sustain it in the long run, the experience of being multidimensional will sound rather impressive to your future employers.

Remember, no job after graduation does not in any manner mean the end of your career. In fact, in every manner, it means you have the time to prepare and make yourself ready in the best possible way to face the challenges in the professional arena. So stay inspired and occupied and enhance your persona and efficiency for a brighter future.
