Delhi, Chattisgarh, Manipur Governments has cancelled all classes and exams till March 31 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus, officials said. However, exams will be held as per schedule in these educational institutes.
WHO( World Health Organisation) also declared the novel corona (Covid-19) a pandemic.
All government, aided and private schools should be closed till the specified date to reduce mass gatherings, an order issued by Commissioner (Education-Schools), Manipur T Ranjit said.
After declaring coronavirus as an epidemic, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said schools and colleges where no examination is underway will be closed in the national capital. Earlier, the government had announced holiday for all primary schools and Anganwadis operating in the state till March 31, and the secondary classes in schools were left open in view of the exams.
"Delhi govt has declared Coronavirus an epidemic. We need to exercise abundant caution to contain the disease. All cinema halls, schools, colleges in Delhi will be shut until 31st March, but exams will continue as scheduled. People are advised to stay away from public gatherings," the chief minister said in a tweet.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday late evening chaired an emergency meeting of his cabinet colleagues and senior officials to review the preparedness to prevent any spread of the infection in the state, an official of the government's public relations department here said.
During the meeting, it was decided to shut schools and colleges till March 31 in view of an advisory issued by the Government of India related to coronavirus.
