Dental medicine is also known as Dentistry is the field of study of oral disorders in human beings. People in this profession are required to diagnose, treat and indulge in preventing oral disorders and deal with keeping the healthy and proper functioning of gums, teeth, and mouth. The job also involves computer resonance imaging, tissue grafts, implants, and laser surgery.

Eligibility criteria
For BDS
- Students are required to score at least 50 per cent in class 12 in subjects like physics, biology and chemistry. Different colleges may have varying requirements for admission.
- Admission to all dental programmes offered by Indian medical colleges will be on the basis of the NEET Exam score.
For Diploma
- After completing class 10, one can apply for Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Hygienist, and other such programmes.
- One needs to pass class 12 with the minimum required marks to apply for courses like Dental Ceramic Technology.
For Post-graduate
- In order to qualify for master's degrees, students must have successfully completed their BDS.
- Admission to postgraduate courses is based on the NEET-PG.
