The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is an entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to help in professionalizing the country's foreign trade management, increase exports by developing human resources and analyzing, disseminating data and conducting research. It is a national level entrance exam held once in a year to get admission into the MBA course over 420 seats offered by the 3 colleges in India at New Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada. Earlier the exam was conducted by IIFT itself.

When the registered candidates do not have more than 3 months in their hands, they need to be perfectly prepared for the exam. So here we are going to discuss some of the preparation which will surely help the aspirants to get some ideas about the focusing area and making a strategic plan.

1- Sectional Attempt:

IIFT never reveals its sectional cut-offs. So it can be a little risky for the students to assume and attend to pass the sectional cut-offs. Students are advised to attempt all the sections uniformly and then try to grab scores in their strongest area. There are different cut-off marks for different sections and it is assumed that the section-wise cut off mark is not more than 25% mark allotted to the subject.

2- 1st preference to the easier one:

It is one of the successful tricks to apply for securing a high score. If you want to attempt a maximum number of questions without being stressed then try to attempt the easier part of the section 1st. It will help to build confidence for the difficult one and you can secure marks initially by attempting the easier questions 1st. And due to this, you can give proper time on solving the tricky questions with panicking about the timing.

3- Time Management:

As IIFT is considered as speed test so time management plays a vital role here. Time management skills are most when you are appearing any entrance exam. Students have to complete certain question-answer within a limited time. you have to avoid the long lengthy question and choose the short-listed question. You must have an idea about which section takes how much time so that you can plan your strategy according to the need.

4- Get proper study materials:

Always hard work does not lead to success. Getting the right and proper study materials are very important to study. If your materials are not sufficient then it will create a problem for you.

5- know the complete details about the Syllabus & Exam pattern:

Knowing the syllabus is the key factor before you start your preparation. If you are unknown about your syllabus then it may lead to errant. Students are advised to go through the syllabus completely. Complete knowledge of syllabus gives you a proper idea about your preparation. The idea of exam pattern enhances your choosing capacity. That means you will get an idea about, in which subject you take first.

6- General Knowledge:

Making GK as your strong part can help you in increasing your secured score. But this needs a lot of study over various subjects that GK usually comes from such as Current Affairs, International Policies, Business, Punch line of companies, Top officials of big companies, Major corporate events, Famous award, and prizes, World records, Books and authors, Science, History, Geography, etc.

7- Accuracy:

Attempting all the questions in the exam will not help you in getting your desired score but maintaining accuracy can. As in IIFT EXAM, 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer, so if you are not so sure about the answer to any question then it is better to skip that question and move forward. The students have to keep both accuracy and speed in mind and avoid wild guesses.

8- Exam Strategy:

Students are advised to make a plan ready for the preparation of IIFT. You have to make an exam strategy where the time for each subject, work on the weak area, strengthen the strong area, the time within which the syllabus needs to be completed, how and when to revise, etc are mentioned. And Practice can develop your preparation strategy to the next level.

9- Go for Mock Test:

A Mock test can help you to a great extent as it increases the idea in many areas such as Awareness of the Pattern, Recognition of Important Subjects, Performance Evaluation,  Improve Speed and Accuracy, Time Management, Better Chance to Score, & in Motivation.  Initially, your scores might be pathetic but do not get panic. Keep on practicing test series. The most important thing you must do after giving every test series is to analyze the question patterns and your performance, identify your strength and weakness.

10-  Practice previous papers:

In order to gauge the difficulty level, type of questions asked and available options, it is necessary that students gather a thorough understanding of past papers. You should solve them within the stipulated time limit, and keep tracking your performance. You must quickly figure out your weaker areas so you can tackle them with greater efficiency.

Hope our little effort will help the IIFT aspirants to gather some ideas about how to make it for IIFT in just 3 months. Follow these tips, focus on your goal and keep the hard work going and it will surely lead you to your dream destination.
