9 reasons why to appear GATE exam

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national level Engineering Entrance Examination. GATE is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE under the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

It is one of the toughest and competitive examinations in India. Students who don’t aware of the benefits of GATE or doesn’t have the mindset for appearing the GATE, rethink about their decision. GATE qualifier has a lot of benefits, which we are going to discuss.

Reason to appear GATE examination:

1. Domain Specialization (ME/M. Tech):

It gives an opportunity for students to do a master degree in their respective subjects. It is a platform for those who have missed their track of IIT’s, NIT’s, JEE Advance or JEE or AIEEE exam.

2. Stipend and Scholarship:

There is a stipend program for the students who are in master degree and qualified GATE. An average of Rs 15,000/- to Rs 20,000/- scholarship is fixed for the GATE qualifier. Some reputed University like BARC also considering GATE score card mandatory. 

3. Research:

Generally, GATE score is valid only for three years. If you are conscious about your specialization subject and want to explore the new phenomenon, then after completing your ME/M. Tech you have an option for research. Nowadays everyone thinks about a short cut and research is a long term process. Very few people get interested in the research that’s why maximum good students are going to foreign for a better perspective. But is it good like, our knowledge is invested in other countries? So it should be better for a student to do research in their own country for development. There is a stipend set up for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) & SRF (Senior Research Fellowship). The stipend amount generally lies between Rs 15,000/- to Rs 20,000/- for CSIR

4. PSUs Hiring:

PSU means Public Sector Undertaking. The government-Owned corporations are known as Public Sector Undertaking in India. More than 25+ PSUs like IOCL, ONGC, BPCL, HPCL, NTPC, GAIL, BARC, etc recruit candidates by considering their GATE score. 

5. Private Sector: 

Private companies are preferring candidates who have to hold their ME/ M. Tech degree through GATE exam. An organization like Google, TATA, Maruti, CISCO and other several companies pick engineers having Master- Level qualification. Nowadays it is very necessary to qualify the GATE exam for master degree. Master degree candidates packages are relatively high than degree candidates. For a decorative good salary package, a candidate has to qualify GATE.

6. Post- Graduation From abroad:

Another great benefit of qualifying the GATE exam is that you want to pursue your higher study from foreign University than GATE score can full fill your dream. A few foreign Universities in Singapore and Germany consider the GATE score for their entrance process. It means GATE creates international opportunities both professionally as well as academically. 

7. Job in Foreign Companies:

As GATE score is needed for the study in the abroad, as like GATE score also helpful for a candidate to settle in the foreign companies. So GATE score is very much needed in today’s era. 

8. Teaching Line:

After completing the master degree if someone takes an interest in teaching as a profession than she/ he can join as an Assistant Professor in any applied colleges or Institutions as per the criteria mentioned by them. Minimum Salary package is 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum respectively.

9. MBA admission:

Basically, the CAT is the entrance examination for the management studies. But some top Universities also take students on the basis of GATE score. NITIE Mumbai, 6th rank in India takes admission from GATE.
