GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level Engineering Entrance Examination. GATE is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE under the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Reason to appear GATE examination:
1. Domain Specialization (ME/M. Tech):
It gives an opportunity for students to do a master's degree in their respective subjects. It is a platform for those who have missed their track of IIT’s, NIT’s, JEE Advance or JEE or AIEEE exam.
2. Stipend and Scholarship:
There is a stipend program for the students who are in master degree and qualified GATE. An average of Rs 15,000/- to Rs 20,000/- scholarship is fixed for the GATE qualifier. Some reputed University like BARC also considering GATE score card mandatory.
3. Research:
Generally, the GATE score is valid only for three years. If you are conscious about your specialization subject and want to explore the new phenomenon, then after completing your ME/M. 5. Private Sector:
Private companies are preferring candidates who have to hold their ME/ M. Tech degree through GATE exam. An organization like Google, TATA, Maruti, CISCO and other several companies pick engineers having Master- Level qualification. Nowadays it is very necessary to qualify the GATE exam for master degree. Master degree candidates packages are relatively high than degree candidates. 6. Post- Graduation From abroad:

8. Teaching Line:
After completing the master's degree if someone takes an interest in teaching as a profession then she/ he can join as an Assistant Professor in any applied colleges or Institutions as per the criteria mentioned by them. The minimum Salary package is 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum respectively.
9. MBA admission:
Basically, the CAT is the entrance examination for management studies. But some top Universities also take students on the basis of GATE score. NITIE Mumbai, 6th rank in India takes admission from GATE.
