A source in the ministry said, the JEE and NEET exams are likely to take place towards the end of June.
The HRD minister’s live interaction with students is aimed at addressing some of the fear among students given the circumstance. This will be the second live interaction that the minister will hold after his earlier one with parents of students.
During the interaction, most parents were concerned about dates of pending board exams and entrance exams. However, the minister did not give a definite answer and asked them to wait for the lockdown to be lifted.
Amid lockdown in the country till May 17 for the containment of Coronavirus cases declared by Prime minister Modi , Aspirants of NEET and JEE Main Entrance exam are curious about their Test date which were about to held in May first week. According to sources in HRD, the National Testing Agency (NTA) may be able to conduct the entrance tests for engineering/ architecture and medical courses only by second or third week of June as school education Boards will also have to first hold the pending papers. The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) tests are unlikely to be held before second or third week of June with the nationwide lockdown in the wake of Covid-19 spread extended till May 17, 2020.
Following extension of the lockdown, NTA has also further extended the dates of online correction of application forms, which include change of city and centre, till May 15.
A senior NTA official denied rumours that the entrance exams would be held in July. According to a senior NTA official, no such decisions has been taken. “There are no dates being announced and candidates should only rely on official notification uploaded on the NTA website or issued by the MHRD. Under the present circumstances, there is no way one can predict a date for the exams,” confirmed the official
A senior official at MHRD said a decision on the dates by CBSE and NTA can be taken only after the lockdown is lifted across the country. “NTA will also take into the account the schedule of the pending Class X and XII Board exams of various school education boards ... Therefore, even if the lockdown is lifted by May 3, JEE (Main) and NEET-UG can be conducted only in the latter half of June at the earliest,” he said.
Ministry officials said a comprehensive assessment of the situation can be made only after complete lifting of the restrictions

JEE, NEET application correction last date
Since HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has asked the NTA to postponed the application correction last dates for NEET and JEE till May 3 due to the extended lockdown, it is expected that the National Testing Agency would be declaring the same on the official website soon.
