DISHTAVO stands for Digital Integrated Systems of Holistic Teaching and Virtual Orientations. The pandemic has taken a toll not only on our lives but also on the education system of India. To give a good boost to e-learning methods in the propagation of higher education for the academic year 2020-21, the state government of Goa launched a YouTube channel named DISHTAVO. With the help of this channel, the students will be able to view the recorded lectures by different teachers. The digital platform aims to provide different e-learning content for college students for 24 hours a day.

What is DISHTAVO?

This is a holistic and comprehensive education program that has been created online for the delivery of e-content. The content will be delivered in the form of video lectures to the students. The content will comply with the syllabus of the colleges affiliated to the Goa University.

How will YouTube channel work?

For this digital education project, hundreds of teachers from the different colleges in Goa have participated for the recording of the lectures in the different disciplines and degree programs.

The programs in which the lectures have been recorded include BA, Home Science, BSc, Music, BCom, and others.

The various reference books and the study materials will also be provided in the description of the videos uploaded on this platform.

As per the UGC norms, about forty percent of the syllabus will be covered digitally. Apart from the video, the student will be also provided with the notes, transcript, glossary and links for the reference materials.

Till now, 1200 teachers have participated in the recording of the lectures and till now 1000 videos have been uploaded in the channel. 3500 videos have been recorded till date. 25000 videos are in the process of being edited and will be uploaded soon on DISHTAVO.

How will DISHTAVO benefit the students?

Online classes have begun in all colleges in Goa but due to the poor connectivity, e-learning has been hindered. However, with the help of this e-learning project, the students can watch the videos anytime through the recorded lectures.

In the course of the academic year, 10000 lectures will be uploaded for the benefit of the students.

The duration of the videos will be 10-12 minutes. The videos have been kept short keeping in mind the attention span of the students. The attention span of the students is not much and hence the videos have been kept short and simple for their benefit.

DISHTAVO has adopted Swayam for MOOCS standards which enables one to provide the best learning experience for the students. The lessons that will be uploaded on DISHTAVO are upgraded on a timely manner and the students can watch them offline too.
