After reviewing and analyzing many experimental and significant proposals in the field of education, the Government took a major move to set up National Testing Agency (NTA) in a hope of increasing efficiency and transparency in the country’s educational system. NTA is a statutory body, which was approved by the Union Cabinet for conducting entrance examinations of JEE, NEET, CTET, UGC NET, etc. from the end of 2018 onwards. To date, these exams were conducted by The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

NEET is the only national-level medical entrance exam. It is organized for providing admission in all Indian Medical colleges offering courses in MBBS, BDS & Ayush.

Changes introduced in NEET 2021:

Earlier it was decided that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted twice a year in online mode from 2021. Then the ministry raised concerns that conducting NEET twice a year may put additional pressure on students on the other hand students from the rural areas may be impacted if they conduct only a computer-based exam. So, the government rolled back the decision. The exam will now be held once a year and in pen-and-paper mode and not online.

It has been confirmed that NEET 2021 will be a single entrance exam for UG medical admission 2021. Hence AIIMS and JIPMER will be canceled and done via NEET.

1- NTA will set up 3,000 practice centers for the NEET-UG examination all over the country. Which will function on Saturdays and Sundays & candidates will get around an hour to practice.

2- NTA will start their free coaching centers for NEET aspirants.

3- New Changes Introduced the candidates of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana need not have to submit Self Declaration form anymore because they have joined the 15% All India Quota scheme.

4- Aadhaar Card is not mandatory to fill the NEET Application. Any government ID proof can be used to apply for the exam.

5- Indian candidates who want to pursue MBBS/BDS in foreign nationals, are not allowed to move abroad to study if they have registered for NEET and could not qualify.

6- The attempt limit has been removed from the last year. Now, candidates may attempt the NEET until the age limit as per their categories.

7- NIOS or State Open School or private candidates are not eligible to appear NEET exam.

8- There will be one set for question papers in all languages. As per officials, the exam will be bilingual (except language chosen in English).
