Tips to Apply for IITs Internship

Undergraduate and the postgraduate students pursuing the degree in the engineering and of the physics, math, humanities, social science, etc, can apply to internships in IIT in various research, management, and engineering fields such as virtual reality, product management, mobile app development, electromagnetic, etc.IIT Internships vary to the time period which lasts up to 6-8 weeks during the months of May to July, and the interns are provided with a stipend amount of Rs 5000 to Rs 15,000.
 
 
Below is the compilation various types of internships at various of the IITs and their eligibility criteria:
 
1- IIT Ropar: The UG and the PG students who are pursuing over the civil, mechanical, electronics, electrical, biomedical, material and energy, social science, physics, or the chemistry can apply to the 5 to the 8 week long internships at IIT Ropar in March. It provides Rs.5000/- to maximum Rs.10000/- for a period of 2 months.
 
2-IIT Roorkee: IIT Roorkee also recently has started SPARK, the summer internship program wherein the students or the candidates who are in the second and/or the pre-final year can apply for the summer internship program at IIT Roorkee.
The online registration is scheduled to be opened in the mid-January and the interested students here can apply and go by fillip over their relevant academic details with a transcript and the resume with the research statement with it which personifies over the motivation of the relevant research of the research background and the respective areas of interest.
These internships also last here up to 6-8 weeks and also offer a stipend of over Rs 2,500 per week.
 
3- IIT Gandhinagar: The Summer Research Internships at IIT Gandhinagar 
(SRIP) which aims at bringing the students from across the country and the faculty from IITs work together so as an on-going research project all over.
Undergraduate students also in the 1st, 2nd, or the 3rd year and 1st year postgraduate students are also eligible to apply to the 8 weeks of the internship at IIT Gandhinagar under SRIP.
 
4- IIT Guwahati: Students with the third year of engineering can also apply and go for the internship at the IIT Guwahati in February. Students can also visit the relevant websites of the departments they wish for and also fill in an online application form to apply further.
 
5- IIT Bombay: They offer summer internships to the relevant students who are currently here in their relevant 6th semester or have been performed exceptionally well in the second year of the course. The second-year students with exceptional academic performance may also be considered for internships in IIT Bombay.  The students are also shortlisted here on the basis of their relevant academic performance and the technical skills, where the selected candidates can take a mandatory online programming test in C.
IIT Bombay also hosts the IIT B Research Internship Awards where the students pursuing the final year of their relevant master’s degree and are in the 3rd or the same as 4th of their bachelor's degree can head up with the research internships, where the stipend is of Rs 10,000 per month. The applications for such internships here are open in the August and the student's intern for the 4-6 months from the December to June with the faculty at IIT Bombay.
 
6- IIT Delhi: There are two internships programs here which are :
  • Global Internship Program in Engineering, Design, and Innovation  (GIPEDI) 
  • Summer  Research Fellowship  (SRF) 
The former GIPEDI is an internship in the electrical sciences which are electrical, computer science, information technology, instrumentation engineering, etc. This program runs throughout the year, in the four batches of January to May, May to July, July to December and December to January.
In SRF, undergraduate students who have completed at least of the 2 years of the study assist the faculty at IIT Delhi in research projects. 20 students are selected for this 8-12 week internship and areas offered as a fellowship of Rs 500 per week. 
 
7- IIT Hyderabad: The different departments of IIT Hyderabad such as the computer science and the electrical engineering offer the relevant 8-week long internships lasting from the duration from May to July to the 3rd year students who are pursuing BE/BTech in the computer science, electronics etc, 2nd year the students with exceptional academic performance can also apply to these relevant internships. The online applications for the IIT Hyderabad internships open in mid - Feb; where one can check to the individual department websites to look for the available internships. 

Internship Courses:

There are various Internship courses in IIT. The various Internship programs are Basic Sciences, Earth, Ocean & Climate Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Infrastructure, Mechanical Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management and Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering may apply for the Internship Programme.

How To Apply For an IIT Internship

1- Apply Online- You can apply for the internships at IIT by visiting the official careers website of the relevant IIT or the websites of the same particular departments in a relevant IIT where the internship is wished for the candidate. One can also go to apply through the mentioned internship programs.
 
2- Email the Professors: One can also email the IIT professors who have similar research interests as yours and also request them so as to host for the internship. The details of academic background and the research interests and the reason to head for the internship and also for the project will help in gaining access to it.
 
3-National Academics of Science: A 2 months of a summer research fellowship at the IIT through the Indian Academy of Science (IAS), Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences, India. The application forms are here available in November, which can still be submitted it along with the cover letter.
 
4-IIT Internship Portals: Different IITs post their relevant internal requirements on the online internship platforms from relevant time to time. You can apply to the relevant internships by answering the question.” Why should you be hired?”

The recruitment process begins with an initial screening on the basis of the relevant cover letters and statement of purpose. For the research internships, the students are here evaluated on the basis of their relevant academic background and their performance, which the candidates are aligned into the proposed projects all over.
The selected students are here called for the telephonic//skype/face-to-face interview with the relevant concerned professor.
