What to Do After 12th Arts?

Most students are faced with the dilemma after completing their 12th board exams with Humanities- what to do next? As a field of study, Humanities or Arts consists of different subjects like history, language, philosophy, music, visual arts and so on. The students who pursue arts are taught to train their analytical and critical processes. 

Some of the most commonly taught subjects under arts are History, Sociology, Geography, Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Law, Psychology, Linguistics and Language Studies and so on.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

This is a three years full time undergraduate course that is available in humanities, liberal arts and social sciences. Specializations are available in subjects like History, Archaeology, Journalism, Economics, Geography, Environmental Science, Literature, Language, and so on. As part of this program, a student has to pick honours subject along with elective subjects. The specializations under this course give great flexibility to the students and help to widen their understanding, increase their critical thinking ability, and develop good communication skills and so on. After completing graduation in this field, the student can work in industries like aviation, academics, media and entertainment, tourism and hospitality and so on. 

Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A)

Studying fine arts is also a popular choice among the students after class 12. This is a three year course that consists of visual arts, fine arts, and performing arts. One can take specialization courses in film making, theatre, dance, music, painting and sculpting, creative writing, textile design, animation and so on. 

The candidates who want to pursue this course must have creative, visualization, artistic and presentation abilities. After completing graduation in this course, you will have formal education as well as knowledge of creative skills. One can become teachers, creative writers, professors, art directors, theatre actors, professional dancers or singers and so on.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

This is a popular course among the students after completing their class 12 exams. One of the best things about the course is students from any field (science, arts or commerce) can pursue it. This full time, three years course helps one to get jobs in sales, finance, marketing, hospitality and so on. 
Some of the most popular specializations are HR Management, finance, sales and marketing, information technology and so on. A student can pursue the course both in full time or via correspondence too. This program helps one to develop a business acumen and also understanding of business

administration. It helps one to take the leadership roles effectively. The candidate who wants to pursue this course must have good communication skills, time management skills, team spirit and problem solving ability.

One can work as marketing manager or marketing executive, HR manager, sales executive, sales manager and so on. 

Integrated law course (B.A+ L.L.B)

As is evident from the name, this course has dual degrees. One is Bachelor of Arts and the other is Bachelor of Legislative Law. The benefit of this course is that a student can get dual degrees in a single course. The course is of five years and is divided into ten semesters. 

The course has subjects from both domains like economics, sociology, history, company law, crime law, environmental law and so on. 

One will have to appear for the Bar Council of India exam for getting the license to practise law after one completes the course. 

Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (B.J.M)

This is a three year undergraduate course that is spread across six semesters. Subjects taught in the course are print journalism, television production and writing, television and radio production, advertising and public relations, social media, event management and so on. The course prepares the students to develop technical skills required to excel in journalism and mass communication fields. 

The course aims to create students who will be responsible media practitioners with good communication skills. 

After completion of the course, one can start their career in print media, TV production, digital or print journalism, films, advertising, marketing and many more.

Bachelor of Fashion Design (B.F.D)

The three to four year long course has been designed for those students who want to enter the fashion industry. The students are taught about the trends in the fashion industry and also how to make original designs for jewellery, footwear, accessories and garments. They are also made aware of the new market trends and customer needs and how to creatively make products suiting to the customer needs.

This course is ideal for students with creative and curious mindsets. Good sense of colours, sewing abilities, visual sensibility is some of the qualities that a student must have.

After completion of the course, the student can do apprenticeships at fashion houses or with individual designers. After getting some years of experience, they can opt for international jobs. As a graduate in this field, one can bag jobs like retail buyer, personal shopper, retail fashion consultant, textile designer and many more.

Bachelor of Hotel Management (B.H.M)

The three to four year course trains the candidates who want to make a name in the hospitality industry. The students are taught about tourism, lodging management, event management and also about the food and beverage industry. The students can improve their communication and interpersonal skills, customer service skills as well as negotiation skills during the course. 

After completing the course, one can become hotel manager, meeting and event planner, sales manager, catering officer, food and beverage manager, accommodation manager and many more.
