India is loved for its rich arts and culture. India is a land where the countless great poets and authors like Valmiki, Vedvyas, Kalidas, Kabir, Mirabai, Ravindranath Tagore, Amir Khusrow had written their works in immortal ink. Even the sand of time can never burry these eternal creations. Arts and literature give identity to any civilization. Art forms and literature act as a bridge between the present world and the past world. Through Literature, we discover ourselves and world time again and again. When we read ancient literature we come to know about the lifestyle, ideology, administrative system and about the environment of that era.

So, arts, literature and culture play a very vital role in the development, progress and prosperity of every civilization. Today we are living in a society where the craze for arts is decreasing day by day. Most of the people strongly believe that there are very few career options in the field of arts unlike science or only the academically weaker students go for arts.  Which is absolutely untrue.

This article will let you know about the wide scope of career options in arts.

Career options after 12th arts

1. B.A

B.A. stands for Bachelor of Arts and M.A. stands for Master of Arts. It is one of the traditional courses that almost every university offer. This is a three years long course. The important subjects arts stream offers are- Languages (Sanskrit, English, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, French, Japanese etc.), subjects of humanities like  Psychology, Sociology, education, Archaeology, Economics, Indian Culture, Politics, Geography, History etc. You can pursue M.Phil. and PhD after that.  

2. Commerce

You can pursue a B.Com (Hons.) degree at the UG level, and follow it up with an M.Com, MBA, M.phil and PhD. You can choose the subjects like accounting, auditing, finance, taxation, etc. as your paper of specialization.

3. Management

Management is the function of planning, organizing, directing and controlling, and the application of the principles in harnessing physical, financial, human and informational resources efficiently and effectively to achieve organizational goals. If you have an interest in this field then you can opt for management after completing 12th Arts. Top management courses to do after 12th are:

  • BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration)

Duration- 3 years

Some well-known BBA honours programs are:

Banking and Insurance, International Business, Aviation Management, Healthcare Management, Event Management, Tourism and Travel Management

  • BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies)

Duration- 3 years

  • Integrated BBA+MBA Course

Duration- 5 years

4. Degree in Hotel & Hospitality Management

The tourism sector is booming in India right now. After having this degree students can take on various roles in tourism as well as Hotel Industries.

Duration- 4 years

5. BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies)

BBS is a 3 years long Undergraduate Degree program. It is a good alternative to courses like BBA and BMS courses. The course mainly focuses on management subjects like HR, Marketing and Finance.

6. BBE (Bachelor of Business Economics)

BBE is a 3 years long Undergraduate Degree program. This course gives much emphasis on economics subject along with the elements of traditional business studies.

7. BIBF (Bachelor of International Business and Finance)

BIBF is a 3 years long Undergraduate Degree program. The course focuses on International Business, the latest trends and practices followed in International Business and Finance management.

8. Event Management

Duration- 3 years

9. Diploma Management courses after 12th

Apart from degree programmes, there also exist many Diploma courses in Management. The duration of such a Diploma program is around 1-2 years. Some of the popular Diploma management courses are as follows:

  • Diploma in Retail Management
  • Diploma in Organization Management
  • Diploma in Hotel Management
  • Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Diploma in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising
  • Diploma in Marketing and Advertising
  • Diploma in Event Management
  • Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management

10. B.F.A

BFA Stands for Bachelor of Fine arts. Course 3 years long course teaches the students much about skill in painting, photography and visual arts. This study of the visual form of Arts includes Painting, Sculpting, Music, Dance, Photography etc.

11. Aviation courses (Cabin Crew)

A career in aviation has gained popularity as there is a job opportunity with numerous Indian and International airlines. The duration of this course is between 1-3 years.

12. Journalism and Mass Communication

Thousands of television channels, web sites and print media of various interests are working in our country as a result of which the career opportunities in the field of journalism and mass communication has increased manifold. The students can pursue degree and diploma courses in journalism after 12th arts.
