Research Institutes of India are Joined Hands to Fight Against Coronavirus. The sixteen top biotechnology labs and research under the Department of Biotechnology of the Union Government are to work together for making antibodies.
The main focus of these is the development of antibodies, the trial of existing antiviral drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration and, most importantly and genome sequencing.
A senior scientist at a Bhubaneswar based biotechnology lab said "A detailed proposal is being prepared by the consortium of labs at the national level. once the proposal is ready, research on all three aspects would start simultaneously at different laboratories. the positive indication is that we still do not have community transmission which is also a matter of research".
The researchers believe that its essential to decoding the first complete genome sequence. when the genome sequence will be complete it will be slighter easy to development of a vaccine against COVID-19.
A scientist said "genome analysis had helped traced the origin of transmission in case of Ebola, Zika, Nipah viruses. It is now important to understand the evolution of the new strand of the coronavirus family and its viability to identify the path of its spread and subsequent mutations"
Apart from the genome sequencing identification of antibodies among the recovery patients will also be conducted. the human body is the first step of defense against infectious disease. the antibody which will be discovered that will be used to treat the COVID-19 patient. so that his/ her immune system can recover speedily.
The research also focus on the use of multiple drugs used in the treatment of coronavirus.
