NIRF Ranking: Check the List of Top Dental Colleges

National Institute Ranking Framework, (NIRF) Rankings for Dental Colleges have been announced on 11th June 2020 through a Live webinar by the HRD Ministry. Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences has been awarded Rank1 in India among all Dental Colleges. This is the Fifth edition of NIRF Ranking 2020. The Ranking is released for Top 30 Dental Colleges in India. This year the Dental college category has been added for the first time by the Conducting Authority.

The ranking survey was conducted on the basis of certain criteria. These criteria are mentioned below:

  1. Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
  2. Research and Professional Practice (RP)
  3. Graduation Outcomes (GO)
  4. Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
  5. Peer Perception

Top Dental Colleges in India

Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences

Ranked one by the NIRF(National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2020.  It was India's first private dental college and 14th in all over India. This college provides programs for graduate and postgraduate degrees and residency and subspecialties/fellowships (referred to as super specialties in India) and is a tertiary care referral center. It has released many awarding Research reports, Journals, and Thesis. There are more than 30 courses being offered in MAMC in the Medical Stream. The college harbors 4  Medical campuses inside the college campus. MAMC Delhi was ranked 14th among medical colleges in India in 2019 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2019. 

 

Manipal College of Dental Sciences (Udupi)

This college has been awarded the second rank among the top 30 Dental Colleges in India by the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2020. Many renowned alumni like Satya Nadella (CEO Microsoft), Ishita Malviya (Professional Surfer) Rajeev Suri (CEO Nokia), etc belong to this college. It has international collaborations with many international universities like MGM Institute of Health Professionals, the University of Southern California, etc. It provides Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programs under many courses. This college is very well-known for its medical researches in the field of Dentistry. This college provides an ideal campus of learning with its updated methods of teachings and laboratories.

 

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth

Ranked third among the list of top 30 dental colleges published by the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2020. It is the first private College in the State of Maharashtra to receive approval of the Medical Council of India (M.C.I.) and the Government of India. This college provides Postgraduate Degree and Superspeciality Courses for 20 different subjects like ENT (Oto Rhino Laryngology), CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesiology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, etc. It has international collaborations with WHO for clinical multicentric trials, Johns Hopkins University, Harvard USA, Thammasat University, Surindra Rajabhat University, Surin, Thailand, CARE India, etc. Unlike many top dental colleges, this college is also well known for its research activities.

 

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences

The private university from the city of Chennai has been ranked 4th among all dental colleges in India by the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2020. This college provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctorate, Diplomate, and Fellowship Programs. Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences is the first college in the world to use I-Pad based Hospital Information System for hand to hand and seamless communication. This college follows the MILA system of teaching which is an activity-based learning system comprising of 2-hour lectures which are divided into 6 segments. It has established itself as a top-end e-learning castle with Digital Classrooms and Tech-driven laboratories.

 

A. B. S. M. Institute of Dental Sciences

Ranked 5th in India by the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2020. This college was ranked 2nd among the private dental colleges in the country and 5th overall (both Govt. & Private Colleges) by The Week Hansa Research, Dental College Survey 2019.  It has been also awarded the Prestigious “SUSHRUTAAWARD” at the National Level by the Indian Dental Association for the highest standards of excellence in oral health care, honoring individuals & institutions for their outstanding achievements in the area of oral health care. It has many collaborations with international associations and universities. 

 

Manipal College of Dental Sciences

One of the top listed private colleges in India. This year Manipal College of Dental Science is been ranked 6th among Top 30 Dental Colleges for the year 2020. It runs many Undergraduate Prigrams and Postgraduate Programs with specialities like Oral Medicine and Radiology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Public Health Dentistry, etc. This college is well known for its Clinical Research Facilities.  

 

Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education And Research

Ranked 7th among the top ten Dental colleges. SRIHER is one of the premier private colleges in India. It was ranked 54th by the NIRF Ranking 2019 in the overall category. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees under many courses and specialties. SRIHER consists of nine constituent colleges. Every year more than 6000 students are accepted for admission into this college for higher education. 

 

Nair Hospital Dental College

One of the top ten dental colleges in India has been ranked 8th among the list of Top 30 Dental Colleges in India. It offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Fellowships, and PhD programs under the Dental Course. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees under many courses and specialties like Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology, Public Health Dentistry, etc.

 

SRM Dental College

One of the top private colleges in India, it has been ranked 8th among Top 20 Dental colleges. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees under many courses and specialties like Orthodontics, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology, Public Health Dentistry, etc. There are 25 specializations in PG education in medical science.

 

JSS Dental College and Hospital

Secure the 10th Rank among the Top 30 Dental Colleges of India. This college is Deemed to be the University of Karnataka. The main focus of the institution is to provide modern teaching, research, and health facilities. Unlike other top colleges, it also provides undergraduate, postgraduate degrees under many courses and specialties. A wide range of international study and research opportunities are provided to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the chance to conduct research in a foreign country.

These rankings will guide the students for selecting the desirable Universities based on a set of criteria and help the Universities to improve their performance. This can also act as a guideline for the Universities in India to improve its performance and focus on the areas that are in need of development. Pokhriyal said  "It is indeed befitting that besides Overall ranking, category-specific rankings are done for colleges and universities and subject-specific rankings are done for Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Law, and Medicine. A new subject domain, i.e. “Dental” is introduced from 2020 onwards". The Ranking of Institutions at the national level introduces competitiveness amongst institutions to perform better and secure a higher rank in the international ranking.
