For more than a decade, engineering has been in demand as it is one of the most coveted and secure academic courses in India that is considered by students as a career program after their 12th class. There are many entrance exams organized in India that candidates need to appear to get admission in the engineering colleges. 

In India, there are several numbers of engineering entrance exams on national, state, and university levels that the aspirants appear with dreams of getting a seat in top colleges of India. Most candidates start preparing for the exams while they are in 11th and 12th class. Candidates try to score maximum marks in the engineering entrance exams for admissions in IITs, NITs, and IIITs that are renowned for offering good education with better job opportunities.

Mentioned below are the top 10 engineering entrances (national/ state/ university level) that are considered for students’ admission to get a seat in some of the top engineering colleges in the country.

1.JEE Main 2021

JEE Main stands for Joint Entrance Examination and is a national-level entrance exam for engineering students that is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to help engineering students get admission into some of the renowned colleges, such as IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), NIT (National Institute of Technology), and other prominent engineering colleges of the country. It is conducted twice in the year (January and April). The exam is conducted in an online (computer-based) mode and the duration of the exam is 3 hours. The paper contains both MCQs and numerical questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and it is divided into two papers as Paper 1 is for B.Tech/B.E and Paper 2 is for B. Arch/ B.Planning.

2.JEE Advanced 2021

Students who score ranking within the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main exam are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced for nearly 10,000 seats in 23 IITs. It is conducted only once a year. The exam mode is online (Computer-based test) mode and the exam duration is 3 hours. There are three papers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics that students can expect in this exam. There is 1 mark penalty for every incorrect answer and 3 marks for every correct answer.

3.BITSAT 2021

BITSAT stands for Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test and it is a university-level entrance exam that is conducted by the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS). It is an entrance exam that offers admission to all eligible students into the three campuses of BITS across Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad that has 2,000 seats for admission. It is an MCQ based online exam and duration is 3 hours. The different sections of the question paper include Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics.

4.VITEEE 2021

VITEEE is a university-level entrance exam that is conducted by VIT University. VITEEE stands for Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam and it is a common entrance exam that offers admission for around 5000 seats to all eligible students across the three campuses of VIT (Vellore, Andhra Pradesh, and Bhopal. The exam will be MCQ based online mode and the duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The question paper of this exam includes Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Aptitude, and English sections.

5.SRMJEE 2021

SRMJEE stands for SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination and is a state-level entrance exam that is conducted by SRM University. This computer-based online test is held for admissions into nearly the 7,000 engineering seats available across its three campuses (Chennai, Amaravati, and Sonepat). Around 1 lakh students apply for this entrance examination each year. The top 1000 IIT JEE Rank holders along with the top rank holders of central and state board of examinations can take direct admissions.

6.COMEDK 2021

COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the state of Karnataka for the admission of engineering and architecture courses. This entrance examination is going to be held across 697 exam centers in 153 cities in India for nearly 20,000 engineering seats that are available. Questions in this exam are based on the syllabus of the 12th standard (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). The exam language is English and is conducted for a duration of 3 hours.

7.MET 2021

Manipal Academy of Higher Education formerly known as Manipal University is the conducting body of MET (Manipal Entrance Test). The Manipal Entrance Test previously known as MU OET is a University-level online examination for which more than 50,000 applicants appear per year that offers 2000 seats into several courses. The question paper is an objective type multiple-choice one and for admission into the institute, candidates will have to qualify for this examination.

8. MHTCET 2021

The Common Entrance Test Cell of the Maharashtra state government will conduct Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHTCET) which is a common entrance exam for various engineering and pharmacy courses. Engineering aspirants will face questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The exam will be conducted in an online mode and the duration of the exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes. There are 2 marks for every correct answer in the Mathematics section and 1 mark for the rest of the papers.

9.KIITEE 2021

KIITEE stands for Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Test that is conducted by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT). The examination is held annually for admissions of eligible students into the 4-year engineering programs offered by the institute. It is conducted in online mode and has 3 sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There is almost 60 exam centers are available for the candidates appearing for KIITEE.

10. WBJEE 2021

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board conducts WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) every year. It is a state-level entrance exam. Candidates can get admission to the various undergraduate courses in the field of engineering, pharmacy, technology & architecture through this entrance exam. The WBJEE 2021 entrance exam will be in online mode and the question paper is divided into three sections i.e. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
