WBJEE: Exam Pattern, Preparation Tips, Reference Books

WBJEE entrance examination is a state-level exam for B. Tech graduates to participate in the institutions of the state of West Bengal. As it provides admissions to some of the best technical institutes in the state, it is a highly competitive exam than the others. Although the WBJEE exam is less conceptual and more practical when compared to JEE, still the difficulty level is same as JEE Mains.

WBJEE 2021 exam is happened to be conducted in the third week of May 2021 (tentatively). Candidates preparing for the WBJEE exam will have to appear for two papers that are Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (both Physics and Chemistry). Candidates who appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be eligible to take admission in engineering, technology, architecture, and pharmacy study programs.

WBJEE Exam Pattern:

WBJEE exam is an offline or OMR-based test mode, so the questions paper is designed as OMR (Optical Machine Readable response) sheet. The answer sheet will be evaluated by the Optical Mark Recognition method. 

The candidates need to give the response by darkening the required circle appropriately with blue/black ballpoint pen as there will be 4 options for each question asked. If any other kind of marking is done by candidates such as filling the circle with a pencil, filling the circle incompletely,  cross mark, tick mark, dot mark, overwriting, scratching, erasing, white ink, marking outside the circle, etc. that may lead to the wrong response and that will not be counted.

Preparation tips for the WBJEE exam:

Here we are about to discuss the preparation tips for the WBJEE exam that will help the candidates to make a proper strategy for the examination:

  • Time management and scheduling are very much essential, so make a proper study schedule and plan what to study and what not to which will be smart preparation as it will save your time.
  • Try to solve last years’ question papers of the WBJEE exam as it always helps in maintaining the proper speed, type of pattern and make you realize where you stand and what your weaknesses are. 
  • Also students can opt for solving several mock tests that are available either online or offline mock test series. 
  • Candidates should approach a reliable and good coaching center that is equipped with qualified and experienced faculty members for exam preparation.
  • Take out proper notes while you are practicing. So not only that will help in sorting out the important concepts & formulas but also increase accuracy and release your last time rush. 
  • Candidates should never depend on any shortcuts, it is advisable to clear all the basic concepts.
  • Always take NCERT textbooks into count to clear basic concepts as WBJEE exam paper is based on 10+2 level and also prefer reference books that are mentioned above
