PGI entrance is different from the rest in many ways. The kind of questions one would see on their exam would not be lifted from the preparatory books directly. Some may be but not mostly for sure. They are brainstorming, mind-boggling and most of them will give a good exercise to your brain. I’d call their exam a really good one. The one that you will have a good time with, given your basics are clear. Only then! There’s a lot of application that required to answer the questions, be it in terms of theory or the practical or clinical staff. They test the students answering skills, logical reasoning, and their application of knowledge. The percentile and the cut off is really low, It all depends on the questions and the fact that they’re generally based on recent articles and journals because PGIMER as the name says, puts a lot of stress on research and it really shows on their entrance exam questions.

Tips & Tricks to crack PGIMER Exam

1. Be thorough with the Exam Pattern

Before starting the preparation, the students should be through with the exam pattern of the PGIMER Examination.

2.Start Early

It is important that you start with your preparation for at least 6 months before the exam. Starting late will only amount to added pressure, as you will not be able to complete the first reading in time, let alone revision. Hence, start early to relieve yourself of time constraints.

3. Follow a Time-table: Streamline your preparation

When preparing for any postgraduate entrance examination, it is necessary that student knows what he/she is getting himself/herself into. Cracking a PGMER is no joke as there are lakhs of candidates who are toiling equally hard to grab a place in the merit list. So, it becomes important that you plan and strategize your preparation and follow your time-table religiously, without fail. Consistency and dedication are the keywords to clearing the PGIMER exam. It is important that you design a time-table based on your personal needs and stick to it. Missing even a single day of study can cost you heavily.

4.Have Your Basics Clear

Work upon getting your basics right in the first place. The PGIMER exam particularly wants students who are thorough with the basics. Also, during your preparation try to finish the minor subjects first, which include Forensic, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Psychiatry, Skin, and Orthopaedics? This will give you the confidence and momentum to move towards major subjects. The table below (point 6) highlights the subjects.

5.Build concepts & Focus on High Yielding Topics

Concept building can take you a long way. It is pertinent to clear your doubt as and when it arises or jot it down on a notebook. Weekly attend a doubt clearing session or hold a group study at a friend’s place to discuss your doubts.
