Manipal University Entrance Exam 2020 (MET 2020) is a exam to offer admission into various UG & PG courses such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Applied Sciences, and many other courses. This is a University level entrance exam conducted by Manipal University every year. It was formerly known as MU OET (Manipal University Entrance Exam). It’s also the gateway to admission in the various affiliated institutions of the university. Admission to MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MDS, DM and MCh courses will be done through NEET scores.

MET 2020 Schedule:

Manipal University offers a number of courses in UG and PG level. These are given below:

MET 2020 Admit Card:

For MET 2020, candidates must have an online test booking password. Candidates have to select the exam center and exam date & time. A confirmation mail will be sent to the email address after the candidate has booked the schedule through the Online Test Booking System. After that candidate can print their MET admit card 2020.

MET 2020 Exam Syllabus:

The entrance exam syllabus for MET is decided by the exam conducting authorities of Manipal University. The entire syllabus is defined as per the courses offered by the university. Candidates applying for MET are advised that they should go through the whole syllabus thoroughly before appearing the exam.

1- In B.Tech, the syllabus is focused on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, & General English.

2- The questions are mostly from the courses from 10+2 or its equivalent course.

Physics: Measurement, Kinematics, Work and Energy, Rotational Motion and Rigid Body, Communication Systems & Experimental Skills, Force and Motion, Heat and Thermodynamics, Oscillations and Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Modern Physics, Gravitation, Properties of Matter, Electronic Devices.

Chemistry: Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry & Inorganic Chemistry.

Mathematics: Limits & Continuity, Differentiation, Partial Functions, Integration, Logarithms, Mathematical Induction, Binomial Theorem, Analytical Geometry, Trigonometry, Vectors, Circles, Probability.

General English: spotting of errors, sentence improvement & vocabulary.

MET 2020 Cut Off:

MET 2020 cut-off will aware the candidates regarding marks required to be eligible for the admission. The closing ranks will be considered as cut off for each course. The cut off will be published after each round of seat allotment procedure on the university website.

MET 2020 Application Form:

The candidates those are interested to apply for the MET Entrance are advised to fill and submit the form before the last date of application.

1- Candidates have to apply online to fill the Manipal University application form 2020.

2- The online application has been started from 10th October 2018.

3- The last date to fill and submit the Manipal University application form for B.Tech courses will be 15th March 2020.

4- Candidates have to fill the required details and upload the signature and photograph.

5- The filled-in application form along with DD has to be sent to the address given below:

Application Fee

1- The application fee is Rs. 600/- (for all courses) & entrance test fee is Rs. 1400/- (for selected courses) for general category.

2- Foreign /International/ NRI / NRI Sponsored category candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs. 2500/-.

3- The application fee can be paid through credit card/debit card/internet banking.

4- In case of application fee paid through DD, it will be made in favor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, payable at Manipal, Udupi.

MET 2020 Counseling:

To participate in the counseling, candidates have to select their counseling venue at the time of slot booking of the exam. The admission will be organized through offline mode at the prescribed venues.

Candidates will be allotted the seats on the basis of ranks secured by the candidates in the MET 2020 exam. Candidates have to bring the required original documents for verification.

MET 2020 Result:

The results will be declared on different dates for all courses. Candidates can view their result through online mode form the 1st week of May 2020. On the basis of the result, the authority will prepare the merit list for each programme. On the basis of this merit list, the candidates will be called for the counselling.

MET 2020 Answer Key:

The answer key for MET is not provided by the authorities of the university. In case, when the answer key gets released by the exam conducting authorities, candidates will be able to download the detail from the official website.

MET 2020 Eligibility:

Candidates have to fulfill the minimum Eligibility criteria to appear in Manipal University Online Entrance Test. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria for various UG and PG courses from the university website.

Minimum Marks in MET:

It is necessary for the candidates to score a minimum of 50% marks in MET to be eligible for the counseling.

Age Limit:

There is no minimum age to apply.

For B.Tech

Qualifying Exam:

Candidate should pass the 12th class examination from a recognized board.


Applying candidate should have Mathematics, Physics, and English as a mandatory subject along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or any technical vocational subject.

Minimum Marks:

50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

For M.Tech

Qualifying Exam:

Applying candidate should have BE/B.Tech or AMIE or any equivalent degree.

Minimum Marks:

50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam


Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

MET 2020 FAQs:

Q: When should I start my MET preparation?
A: The syllabus is similar to 10+2 Board/University syllabus, so the candidate easily prepares for the exam alongside preparation for their 10+2 exams, starting in Class XI.

Q: How much of class XI and XII syllabus comes in MET? Are there any important specific topics from each?
A: There is no clarity on how much marks will be asked from Class XI and XII syllabus, so it is advisable that candidates don’t ignore any topic.

Q: I am unable to prepare for MET separately? Should I prepare for only JEE MAIN & Class 12?
A: Even if the candidate is not able to prepare for MET 2018 separately, it shouldn’t be a concern. It is because questions asked in the exam are at par with most Class 12 syllabi. Also, JEE Main is a much more advanced exam, and preparing for it will automatically take care of most topics asked in MET.

Q: Which are the important topics for Maths, Physics, and Chemistry for MET?
A: If you go weight wise, Mathematics is the most important subject as it contains 70 questions. Physics and Chemistry each will have 50 questions are of equal weight. Also, the exam conducting body hasn’t disclosed anything on important topics. So, the candidate is recommended not to neglect any topic.

Q: What are the marking scheme in MET?
A: For each correct answer 1 mark will be added, only for ME & M. Tech there are 4 marks for each correct answer. No negative marking for the incorrect answer except ME & M. Tech.

A: These are the documents required-

Q: How can I pay the application fee through DD?
A: You can pay the application fee in favor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, payable at Manipal, Udupi through DD.

Q: Is there any age limit to apply for MET?
A: No, there is no such age limit to apply for MET.

Q: What are the sections in the Physics syllabus?
A: The syllabus of MET consists of 5 sections that are-
Heat and Thermodynamics
Electrostatics and Magnetism
Current Electricity and Electromagnetism
Optics and Modern Physics

Q: Is there any extra charge for the outsiders of India while giving the exam?
A: Yes, the candidates who give the exam in foreign centers need to pay additional fee at the time of taking the test at the test center.

Q: What is the application fee for the foreign candidates or the NRIs?
A: Foreign /International/ NRI / NRI Sponsored category candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs. 2500/-.
