Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET) is a national level exam conducted by the Directorate of Higher Education, Maharashtra to grant admissions to law colleges across the state. The exam is conducted separately for an integrated LLB course(5years) and LLB course (3 years)  The seat intake capacity of the 5-year program is around 5000 whereas 15,000 seats are there for the 3-year course.

MH CET LAW 2021 Admit Card

Those candidates who have successfully registered themselves for the entrance exam will be able to download their admit card online. The admit card is released on the official website for the entrance exam after few weeks of the registration process. It is advisable for the students to check the details mentioned in the admit card before downloading the same. Documents to be carried on the Exam Day
Candidates are supposed to carry the documents mentioned below  without which they will not be allowed inside the examination center

  • Photo IDs such as PAN card/ Aadhar Card or any other ID proof.

Exam Day Instructions Mentioned in the Admit Card:

  • Time to Reach Exam Center- All candidates are required to reach the exam centers one hour prior to the examination time.
  • Admit Card-One of the most mandatory document to be carried to the exam hall is the admit card. The admit card should be printed properly.
  • Related Documents Required Along with Admit card- there are some identity proof documents that are needed to be carried to the exam hall. This is required to cross-check the identity of the exam appearing candidate
  • Things not to carry to the exam center- Prior to entering the exam hall, all candidates must ensure that they are not carrying any kind of unwanted materials or items, like electronic gadgets, pieces of paper, stationery, eatables, etc, into the examination hall. Candidates who are found violating the rule will be debarred from the examination and possibly restricted from attempting the examination, depending on the gravity of the situation
  • Attendance-  Once all the candidates have entered the examination hall, the invigilators will take attendance of the candidates who are present to appear the entrance examination. If the candidate has not signed the attendance sheet then he/she will be marked as absent.

After the examinations, the results will be declared by the conducting authority within 10-15  on the official website. The candidate will be selected on a merit basis which is based on the cutoffs decided by various institutions for admission into their programs

The Organizing authority of the MH CET LAW always publishes the syllabus of the entrance exam along with the exam prospectus on its official website with all the necessary details. The conducting body has prescribed the paper pattern in its official notification for the 2021 examination of both LLB(5yrs) Program and LLB(3yrs) Program. Below is a brief outlook of the exam pattern. Both the exams are conducted in 3 slots(Morning, Afternoon and Evening)

MH CET LAW 2021 Cut-Off

The Cut-off will be set by the conducting authority and based on that merit list of candidates is declared.Candidates scoring marks equal to or more than the cut off will be eligible for the next rounds of admission into the institutes.

MH CET LAW 2021 Application Form

The application process is completely online. The online application process will start for the MH CET 2021 examination.  The start date for the entrance exam for  LLB(5yrs) is January 20, 2021, and for the LLB(3yrs) is March 19, 2021. Before applying the MH CET LAW 2021 exam the candidate needs to fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Below is the detailed process of filling up the MH CET 2021 application formStep 1: Registration

  • Visit the official website of Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Maharashtra and click on the “New Registration” tab.
  • Enter the details such as name, email ID, mobile number and other contact information.
  • Click on 'Submit"
  • Application number, as well as password, is sent on the email ID and mobile number provided.

Step 2: Fill the Application Form

  • Fill the asked details in the application form with proper details. The information given should be true to the best of the candidate's knowledge. If any kind of misinformation is given then the total registration will be canceled.
  • Login on DHE’s official website using the application number and password
  • Provide the credentials asked 
  • Click on ‘Validate your details’ 
  • Cross check and verify the details
  • Click on the ‘Save’ and ‘Next’ tab.

Step 3: Upload the Documents
Candidates need to then upload scanned copies of their signature and photograph. The signature needs to be done with a black ink pen on a white paper.

MH CET LAW 2021 Counselling

The counseling process takes place after the result is released. Candidates who have cleared the cutoff are placed in the merit list and called for this process. Those candidates are selected for further rounds of selection. MH CET LAW 2021 will release the counseling dates for both LLB(3yrs) and LLB(5yrs) program.
Maharashtra State CET Cell of Higher & Technical Education Department conducts the counseling process under the direction of Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Maharashtra.

Steps for the counseling process for both the programs

  • Visit the official website http://cetcell.mahacet.org
  • Register for the CAP by filling in the details
  • Upload the scanned documents required
  • After registration, enter your preferred college and pay the fees. Candidates may fill in preferences of Institutes in decreasing order of their preference as specified by the Competent Authority
  • Document Verification at Admission Reporting Center by the Candidate
  • Release of provisional merit lists
  • Display of available Category wise Seats (Seat Matrix) available for respective CAP Rounds;
  • Display of provisional allotment of respective CAP Rounds indicating allotted institute
  • Acceptance of the offered seat by paying seat acceptance fee at Admission Reporting Centre 
  • Report to the allotted institute for admission on the allotted seat as per final allotment in CAP rounds

Preparation of Merit List (LLB 3 yrs and LLB 5 yrs)
Below is the procedure of preparation of Merit list as released in the official website

(1) Assignment of Merit Number:-
The Candidates who have successfully submitted their application form before the deadline of the online application procedure will be eligible for admission through CAP. The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of CET Score 

(2) Change of Marks due to Verification: -
If the marks in the qualifying examination are modified due to verification the same shall be notified by the conducting authority and merit list on the basis of that will then be released

(3) Assignment of Merit Number in case of a tie:-
The merit list will be prepared on the basis of CET score but in case of a tie, the following preference would be given

  • First preference shall be given to the Candidate having Post Graduate degree of statutory University;
  • Higher percentage of marks in Post Graduate degree of statutory University;
  • Higher percentage of marks in Qualifying Undergraduate Examination (or equivalent examination);
  • Higher percentage of marks in the first language at HSC or equivalent examination;
  • Higher percentage of marks in SSC or equivalent examination;
  • Older in age.

In the case of NRIs

  • Higher percentage of marks in aggregate at HSC or equivalent examination;
  • Higher percentage of marks in aggregate at SSC or equivalent examination;

Documents required while filling the online Centralized Admission Process (CAP) of MH CET LAW

  • Photograph Image: Colour Passport size photograph of the Candidate Size of photo file should be between 20KB to 50KB. The Image file should be saved in JPG or JPEG format
  • Signature Image: Applicant has to Sign on white paper-piece with Black or Blue Pen. The signature image Size file should be between 10KB to 20KB. The Image file should be saved in JPG or JPEG format.
  • Other documents: 10th marksheet/12th mark sheet/Hall ticket/Domicile Certificate/Graduation mark sheet etc  should be saved in PDF format of Size up to 500KB

CAP Process for both LLB 3 yrs and 5 yrs program
CAP is conducted in 3 rounds. Below are the instructions for all the rounds of the CAP

 CAP round I

  • The seats available for Round-I will be published on the website along with the Candidates name that appears in the merit list of CAP
  • An online application is to be filled for the CAP process
  • If a Candidate is allotted the seat as per his first preference, such allotment shall be auto freezed and the Candidate shall accept the allotment so made. Such Candidate shall then be not eligible for participation in the subsequent CAP rounds. They should produce their original documents before their desired institution for the admission process and blocking of seats
  • The candidate who have been allotted seat other than the first preference given by the Candidate and if the Candidate is satisfied with such allotment and do not wish to participate in further CAP rounds, such Candidate can freeze the offered seat through Candidate‘s Login
  • The candidate who has been allotted seat other than first preference and accepted/not accepted the seat by reporting to the ARC for confirmation of seat by paying the seat acceptance fee through Candidate‘s Login shall be eligible for participation in the subsequent rounds 

CAP round II
The candidate who have been allotted seat other than first preference and he or she has accepted/not accepted the seat by reporting to the ARC for confirmation of seat by paying the seat acceptance fee through Candidate‘s Login shall be eligible for participation in the CAP Round II
This Round is the betterment Round for those Candidates who have been allotted seat other than first preference and who have been not allotted any seat in Round-I.

CAP Round III
The seats available for Round III shall be published on the website. This round takes place if there are still some seats left.

Eligibility for CAP Round III is as follows:

  • If the candidate has not been allotted any seat in the previous rounds
  • Candidates who  did not participate (failure of filling option form) in the previous round 
  • If the Candidate canceled his or her admission  in the earlier rounds or rejected seats
  • Frozen the admission seat in the earlier rounds but are not satisfied with their college decision and wish to participate in other rounds for better choices

Application once finally submitted will not be allowed to be withdrawn/ Edited/ Changed in any circumstances. Fees once paid for Category change will NOT be refunded under any circumstances nor can be held in reserve for next year’s CAP.

MH CET LAW 2021 Results

The candidate can obtain the result on the official website. On the basis of the  MH CET LAW results, the candidates can apply to the colleges according to the MH CET LAW cutoff set by the institutions. They must keep a check on the deadline for applying to the institution. The scores will be valid for one year.Steps for obtaining the Result

MH CET LAW 2021 Answer Key

How to Calculate the score?
Award yourself +1 marks for each correct response and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. There are a total of 150 questions. Challenge the Answer Key
The candidate can challenge the answer if in any case candidate has any objection related to their scorecard. The answer key can be challenged online after submitting their id and password. The official board will look after the petition and any changes done will be notified.

MH CET LAW 2021 Eligibility

To apply for the  exam the candidate must fulfill certain eligibility criteria. This is set by the conducting authority. These are the minimum criteria without which the candidate will not be allowed to appear the MH CET LAW exam. Below are the eligibility criteria for the  LLB 3 years and 5 years courses.

LLB 3 years course
This is applicable to Maharashtra Domicile/Indian Nationals/J&K Migrants/Foreign Nationals

  • Candidates should be graduate or appearing in the final year examination of their bachelor degree from any UGC recognized university with a minimum 45% of Marks in Aggregate,  42 % marks in case of candidates belonging to VJ/ DT/ NT(A)/ NT(B)/ NT(C)/ NT(D)/ O.B.C./ S.B.C. Category belonging to the State of Maharashtra,40% marks  in case of Candidates belonging to SC&ST Categories from the State of Maharashtra only
  • The qualifications of 10th, 12th (+2) and Graduation may be obtained through any mode (distance/correspondence / open schooling method). Such candidates are eligible for LL.B-3 Year Course
  • The candidate obtained a bachelor degree from any open University with Preparatory examination without passing HSC are not eligible for LL.B-3 year Course & admission of LL.B-3 Year Course
  • Candidate should have completed any 3 Year bachelor degree from any open University (recognized by UGC) after passing 12th Std
  • The candidate seeking admission into Three Year Law course must have passed class 12th (HSC) as it is the Basic Qualification for the 3-year law course without passing which, he or she cannot be considered eligible for LL.B-3 year Course

LLB 5 years program

  • In case of the DT-VJ-NT-A,NT-1(B), NT-2(C), NT-3(D),OBC and SBC category students Valid Non Creamy layer certificate is required to be produced. 
  • All Maharashtra State candidates belonging to SC, ST, DT-VJ, NT- 1,2,3, OBC and SBC category will have to submit Caste Certificate for admission to claim reserved category seat
