WBJEE 2021 Eligibility Criteria:
WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2021: WBJEE Board has defined the eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. Failing to fulfil the required eligibility, he/ she will not be allowed to appear in the exam
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- There is no upper age limit for appearing in the WBJEE 2021. However, for Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2021.

WBJEE Eligibility 2021- Domicile/Residential Requirement
- There is no particular residential/domicile requirement to appear in WBJEE 2021.
- The state domicile requirement is applicable for any seat under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).
- The candidate will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is either:
- Whose parent(s) is/are resident(s) and having a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit to apply for WBJEE 2021.
- But for admission to Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years.
- Candidates should have been born on or before December 31, 2003, to be eligible for all the courses offered through WBJEE 2021
Qualifying Marks for WBJEE 2021
For Engineering:
- Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
- Marks required for reserved category is 45% in all the three subjects taken together.
- Candidates must have passed English in +2 with at least 30% marks.
- The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by the Central Government or State Government.
For Pharmacy:
- Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
- Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/OBC-C/PwD in all the 3 subjects taken together.
- Passed English in class 10+2 exam with at least 30% marks.
- The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by the Central Government or State Government.
WBJEE Eligibility 2021: Course-Specific Special Criteria:
The course-wise specific special WBJEE Eligibility Criteria are mentioned below:
Degree in Marine Engineering
The following requirements are applicable to the Marine Engineering Course in any of the participating institutions.
- Pass 10+2 with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics took together with individual pass marks.
- Minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either of ‘10’ standard or in ‘10+2’ standard.
5-Year Degree Course in Architecture
The following requirements are applicable for the 5-year degree course in Architecture in any of the participating institutions except the Jadavpur University.
- As per the norms and standards of the Council of Architecture (COA): No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted to the B.Arch course unless they have passed an examination at the end of the new ‘10+2’ scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of Examination at the 10+2 level.
- The candidate must also qualify either in the NATA conducted by the COA or in Paper 2 of JEE Main.
WBJEE Reservation Category
1. WBJEE Reservation criteria for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B 2021:
Reservation details for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B is given below. Along with the details on authorized officers who can issue Caste certificate.
Depending on the category of participating institutions, reservation of seats for such category of students shall be available following the guidelines as provided below:

However, availability of such reserve category seats shall be restricted to students domiciled in West Bengal only.
Candidates claiming such seats must submit relevant Certificate issued from either of the competent Authorities as enlisted below
The certificate is to be produced during counselling, admission. And if the certificate is found to be invalid, the candidate will lose the opportunity of admission in reserve category. The system will automatically put him in general category and the facility will be available from 2nd round of counselling.
Competent authorities to issue Caste certificate for SC/ST:
- Sub-divisional Officer for all districts except Kolkata
- District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and
- Ex-Officio Joint Director, B.C.W. in case of Kolkata Municipal Area (as defined in clause (9) of Section 2 of K.M.C Act, 1980
Competent authorities to issue Caste Certificate for OBC-A/OBC-B:
As per the Backward Classes Welfare Department of Govt. Of West Bengal, the following authorities are authorized to issue a caste certificate.
- Sub-divisional Officer of a Sub-division in a district is an authorized officer, whereas in Kolkata such certificate is issued by such an officer as the State Govt. by modification authorizes.
- Accordingly, the District Welfare Officer, Kolkata, and Ex-Officio Joint Director, B.C.W. has been notified to act as the certificate-issuing authority in respect of Kolkata covering the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
2. WBJEE Reservation criteria for PWD candidates 2021:
PWD candidates with 40% to 70% of disability will be given reservations under Reservation for PWD candidates. The following types of disabilities subject to condition that the candidate can carry out all activities related to theory and practical work as applicable to B.E/B. Tech/B. Arch/B. Pharm courses without any special concession and exemption.
Disabilities are as follows:
- Locomotor disability
- Visual Impairment
- Hearing impairment
- Speech and language disability PwD
Competent authorities to issue PWD Certificate
Officer-in-Charge/ Head of Department/ Head of the Institute of Sub Divisional Hospitals, District Hospitals, Govt. Medical Colleges run by the Govt. of West Bengal.
Special concessions to PWD candidates
- 40% reduction on application fees
- PWD candidates will be given 20 minutes of extra time for each paper, for which the candidate must sit for the examination in the Board’s office in Kolkata.
- Visually impaired candidates can use a scribe/writer provided they are having less/lower academic qualifications than the candidate. The highest qualification of such scribe/writer will be passed/appeared in 10th standard exam in the Board’s office in Kolkata, for which the candidate must sit for the examination in the Board’s office in Kolkata.
To avail the above-mentioned concessions the candidates must formally apply in writing (enclosing a copy of his/her confirmation page and PWD certificate) to the Chairman, WBJEEB, and send/submit the application to the Board office

3. WBJEE Defense Personnel Reservation criteria 2021:
13 seats are available for admission of the wards of Defense Personnel as per the Govt. order. The seats are supernumerary in nature and separate allotment is done by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board as per the following guidelines:
- For consideration under Defense Quota, intending candidates registered for the WBJEE-2021 will have to apply to the Rajya Sainik Board, Home Department, Government of West Bengal, Writers’ Buildings, Kolkata – 700001 through the concerned Zila Sainik Board, W.B. for Ex-servicemen and Units (for serving soldiers) in the prescribed form with an attested copy of WBJEE - 2021 Admit Card.
- Based on the recommendation of the said Rajya Sainik Board, a separate list shall be published by the WBJEEB for subsequent offline counseling and allotment of seats inter-se merit basis. Securing a General Merit Rank (GMR) is mandatory for such a category of seat.
- Allotment of seats under Defense Quota is not done through e-counseling.
4. WBJEE Reservation Seats for Admission through JEE (Main) 2021:
Admission through JEE Main 2021 exam mainly depends on the Merit of the candidate. Seats are available for students to merit listed in JEE (Main) 2021 up to the extent of 10% of the approved seats in all Self Financed Engineering & Technology Colleges of West Bengal.
Allotment of seats shall be strictly on the basis of merit and preference of students through the e-counseling process conducted by the WBJEE Board.

5. WBJEE Tuition Fee Waiver scheme Reservation criteria 2021:
Reservation under the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme is for candidates who are economically backward. The total annual income of the family will be considered and candidates must submit an Income certificate to support their claim. Read below for more details.
- The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW) has been implemented by the Government of West Bengal for meritorious and economically backward students domiciled in West Bengal for admission to all the participating universities/university departments/government colleges as well as private and self-financing colleges offering Engineering / Technology /Pharmacy/ Architecture Courses. However, for Universities/University Departments, the quantum of availability of such seats is under the discretion of the University Authorities.
- For all the government as well as private & self-financing Engineering /Technology /Pharmacy colleges, a maximum of 5% of sanctioned intake per course is available on a supernumerary basis (over and above the sanctioned seats) for admission under TFW scheme.
- The selection of candidates for the TFW scheme shall be decided on the basis of merit and preference of eligible students in WBJEE-2021.
- The candidate must be domiciled in West Bengal and the domicile certificate has produced during counseling and admission.
- Total Annual Family Income of the student from all sources must be less than Rs. 2.50 lakhs (Rupees two lakhs and fifty thousand only).
- The waiver is limited to the Tuition Fee only. All other fees will have to be paid by the beneficiary.
Minority Quota:
- For admission through WBJEE 2021, 50% of the approved seats are available for minority candidates in the higher Technical Education Institutes, which have been granted the Minority Status.
- Though, minority category candidates may seek admission in the government-approved minority institutes against specified minority quota notified by the State Government of West Bengal.
Competent authority to issue Income certificate
Income certificate must be submitted during counseling and admission process failing which the seat will not be allotted under TFW category and the candidate will be put under general category and the facility will be available from 2nd round of counseling.
