Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is conducted jointly by several premier research institutes in the country. JEST 2021 is conducted to offer admission to aspirants in Ph.D. / Integrated Ph.D. courses offered in courses such as Physics, Theoretical Computer Science, Neuroscience, and Computational Biology. The JEST 2021 score will be valid for a one-year duration only. There is no cap on taking the JEST exam, aspirants can appear for it any number of times. Aspirants are informed that securing a rank in JEST does not confirm admission in any college accepting the exam scores for admission. After qualifying the JEST exam, candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria as listed by individual colleges. JEST is considered to be a National Eligibility Test (NET) by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB). JEST 2021 Cut Off:
- JEST cut off marks will publish on the official website and the applicants can check it through online mode. After the result declaration, the cut off marks will release.
- The cut-off marks are the minimum qualifying marks, which should score by the candidates in the entrance examination. Candidates will be able to get admission on the basis of their marks scored in the examination.

The official JEST website also informs: “Before uploading your photo and signature files, make sure you have given it a good name. File names should use alphabets, underscores, and numbers only. Special characters such as spaces, (, #, &, punctuation, etc., should not be used in filenames. If you use a logical naming system, like loginname_date_photo.jpg, loginname_date_sig.jpg then it will be printed without any errors. In case the jpeg file of your photo which has been taken with camera exceeds the limit, you should compress the file size using compression software available on the websites, such as http://jpeg-optimizer.com, http://www.imageoptimizer.net. Your signature can be scanned with a digital scanner and saved as a jpeg file for uploading. In case this file size produced by scanner also exceeds 100 kB limit, you can compress it using the same tools as explained above”.
Step 4: Pay JEST Application Fee
Aspirants can pay the application fees for the JEST exam online by means of Debit card/Credit card and Net-banking. Any other payment mode would not be accepted.
Step 5: Submit & Print JEST Application Form
After the candidate completes all the above-mentioned steps they need to click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the registration process for the JEST exam. Once candidates successfully submit their registration form online they will receive an email on their registered email address containing their “application data after final submission containing Unique Submission Number and filled in data”, informs the official website. Aspirants are advised to download and keep this information safely for future reference. In a scenario wherein candidates do not receive such an email notification after submission of the JEST application form and completing the e-payment of the JEST application fee then they need to contact JEST authorities and inform the same immediately.

JEST 2021 Counselling:
After the publication of results, the counseling process will begin. There is no centralized counseling system for admission. The applicants who have qualified in the exam will be invited by the institutions for interviews.
The JEST counseling procedure will be conducted for those candidates who have scored qualified marks in the examination of JEST, they will be able to attend the counseling procedure and through this procedure and interview, candidates will get admission in the Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. programs.
