Food technology is a branch of science in which food science is applied in manufacturing and preservation of food products. The food technologists study the chemical, physical and microbiological makeup of the food. The food is processed, preserved, packaged and stored according to the specifications by industry and government. The research and development in food technology have resulted in the production of safe and nutritious foods. The application of food science helps in manufacturing safe, wholesome and nutritious food products. The study of food technology is to develop new methods and systems for keeping food products safe and resistant to natural harms such as bacteria and other micro-organisms. The admission process for the Food Technology is based on their accomplishment in a relevant entrance examination, conducted mostly at the institutional level, followed with a round of personal interview. In the personal interview round, the candidate's general aptitude for the course is examined and a merit list is then issued by each of the institute, where the names of the students are being declared. Admission process for the respective institutes varies accordingly.
