Perfusion technologists work in the operating rooms of tertiary care units (speciality and super-speciality hospitals) during heart and lung surgeries. They also work in Intensive care units and cardiothoracic ICUs. They will operate the heart-lung machine that will keep the patient alive during critical surgeries on the hearts and lungs such as organ transplants, open-heart surgeries, etc.
Though Perfusion Technologists mostly work in hospitals and private clinics, with advanced education, perfusionists can go in for teaching, conducting research, and working for perfusion equipment suppliers as Sales and Marketing Executives for perfusion products.
