FAQ:
Q: What is the scope of electronics and instrumentation engineering?
A: Instrumentation is a very essential area of focus in almost every industry. Most of the "after B.E jobs" in Instrumentation are in PSUs. For e.g. in NTPC Badarpur my PS1 station had a whole Control and Instrumentation Lab where many of the instruments like thermocouples, flow valves, pressure transducers, etc. were corrected and calibrated. Other than that one can go for PLCs applications that are employed in many industrial power plants. Instrumentation engineering currently in India is all about automation. Talking about Non-PSUs few good companies like Honeywell Automation and Allan Bradley offer a good package in instrumentation job profiles. For research purposes, Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy logic are one of the hotly sought after research areas that most Instrumentation people go for. Surely the number of companies offering a good pay package in the Instrumentation profile is a matter of concern but the trend will surely change and not to forget the hugely booming electronics market which makes students choose the electronics area as a future career.
