The Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced JEE Main 2020 to be conducted from July 18 - July 23 in multiple sessions through a webinar conducted on May 5th. Pokhriyal informed this during a live interaction with students through the social media platform. JEE Advanced 2020 is expected to be conducted in August, dates of which are not decided yet.
The HRD minister informed that the syllabus will be reduced for the upcoming academic session as students have lost valuable academic time, which confirms that JEE Main 2020 will be held on a reduced syllabus. This suggestion was first made by Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia.

Originally, the exam was supposed to be conducted in the month of April but was extended to May end due to the lockdown in the country. Now that the nation-wide lockdown has been extended till May 17, the exam has been further postponed to July.
Over 9 lakh students who have registered for the exam have been awaiting the JEE Main exam date. This news will bring a sigh of relief to those candidates and they can plan accordingly. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced to extend the online application form correction option and allowed candidates to choose the exam center of their choice in order to minimize any commute for the examinees and their parents.

During the interaction, the Minister also answered queries raised by students including infrastructural issues, nonavailability of books, fee hike. This was the second live session hosted by HRD Minister. He had earlier this month held a live session with parents and answered their queries.
