Considering the early declaration of JEE Advanced 2020 Result which is set to be published within a week of the exam, IIT Delhi has proposed to drop one of the seven counselling rounds in order to start the session early as of October. The proposal put forth by the institute has been forwarded to the Joint Implementation Committee for its approval.
How Will be the Reduction Applied
The counselling of JEE Advanced is done for a total of roughly 40,000 seats across the 100 top institutes including the NITs. IITs, IIITs and the IIEST. The counselling procedure usually has seven rounds. But according to the proposal, the counselling process will be done in six rounds for this academic year.
If the proposal put forth by IIT Delhi is accepted by the other participating institutes, the same will be shared with the Central Seat Allocation Board which coordinated the admissions to the NITs, IIITs, and IIEST. This also means that the proposal put forth by IIT-Delhi will influence the admission procedure for all the Centrally funded Technical Institutions since they have a joint admission procedure.

JEE Advanced 2020 Result
Along with dropping one of the seven counselling rounds, IIT Delhi has also suggested publishing the JEE Advanced 2020 result within a week after the exam is conducted. Normally the organizing institute takes 2 - 3 weeks for the JEE Advanced result declaration.
According to officials from IIT Delhi, the reduction in the counselling rounds and the early declaration of the results will help the participating IITs to start the classes for the new students early in October 2020. According to a source, "This is possible provided we complete six rounds of counselling between September 1 and October 1".
JEE Advanced 2020 to be Conducted on August 23
The indicative academic calendar issued by the University Grants Commission(UGC) early this month had proposed that the new academic calendar for the fresh batch of students should ideally commence in the first week of September. However, with the lockdown discontinued the entrance exam calendar by almost three months, starting the new session in the first week of September seems impossible for the IITs.
