Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has stated to discard the Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Entrance Exam (UPSEE) from the 2021 session. Instead, JEE Main score to be used for admission for various engineering courses in the state. According to the conducting body AKTU, JEE Main scores will be used for admissions in 1.40 lakh seats in 750 colleges across the state.
Vice-chancellor of Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Prof. Vinay Pathak said, "The decision has been taken to scrap UPSEE from 2021. The decision has been made to make preparations from students easier as they prepare for both UPSEE and JEE Main separately. We have decided to implement this from 2021 so as to give students time to prepare in a better manner. Many states are already using JEE Main scores for admissions in their respective states.”
The decision was discussed thoroughly with the help of presentation with the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath which explained the benefits of using the scores of JEE Main for admission instead of UPSEE. This will also relieve the pressure of the students from preparing two separate engineering entrance exams.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is a national level entrance exam conducted by NTA to offer admissions to BE/BTech, BPlan and BArch courses at the IIITs, NITs and other top engineering institutions across the country. JEE Main is also the qualifying test for appearing in JEE Advanced which is the entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate programs offered by all the IITs present in India.
