Q: What is the difference between the general medicine and internal medicine ?’
A: We’re all primary care physicians, but the biggest difference for the internal medicine doctors are like adult pediatricians, and the internal medicine physician cares for the adults, the family practitioner is also the pediatrician and internist combined into the specialty and cares for both children and adults.
Q: What do the internists do ?
A: The internists do not perform the surgery, when other specialists such as the surgeons and the obstetricians are involved into the patient’s care, the internists often also coordinate and manage the treatment. The internists must also complete the minimum of the 7 years of the medical school (usually 4 years) and of the postgraduate training.
