Minister of state, Ashwini Kumar Choubey announced the news of an increase in 5200 number of MBBS seats for the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservation quota medical colleges by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Mr.Choubey brought this news today on 24th July 2019 in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha which is only applicable for the state government’s colleges, state government aided society run colleges, municipal corporation’s colleges & colleges set up in private-public mode for the academic session 2019-20.
According to Union minister Harsh Vardhan, within 2 years, the number of seats increased for UG and PG in medical colleges is 24,698. During the period of 2017-18 to 2019-20, the number of seats increased for UG and PG are 15,815 & 2,153 respectively. Mr. Vardhan submitted the data on 12th July 2019 that 10,565 UG and 2,153 PG seats have been increased in 2019-20. He informed that there are total 75,000 MBBS seats are now available for NEET qualifiers.
The EWS reservation will be allotted for the increased seats not for the existing seats already declared. Here is the data of increased seat number according to state wise
