The duration of the MBBS course is now reduced to 50 months from 54 months by the Medical Council of India (MCI). MCI has made many other changes to the exam pattern as well. The changes will be applicable only for the students who get admission to the course in the current academic year. The pattern will remain same as before for the previous batch students.

Changes Made:
- Each subject will now have two papers, with theory, oral and practical exams for each paper.
- 2nd year topic such as forensic medicine will be added to 3rd year.
- The duration of each year will be like this- 1st year (13 months), 2nd year (11 months), and 3rd year (12 & 14 months).
- Each subject will contain 2 papers and 200 marks will be reserved for theory of two papers and 100 will be reserved for either practical, oral or clinical exam.
- Candidate should score 50 per cent in theory and practical combined to be eligible to sit for university exams.
- The candidate should secure 50 per cent in theory and practical to pass.
- The internal assessment will not be added to the university examination marks.
