IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal has been ranked second among higher educational institutes of India in the 'Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Ranking 2020'.
The IIT Kharagpur ranked 32nd in the overall global ranking, and Indian Institute of Science (IIS) ranked 16th globally, is India's top ranked institution. It was a jump from the 55th rank last year, the statement was itself said by IIT Kharagpur
On the rise in ranking, IIT KGP Director Prof V K Tewari said, "In the recent past, we have taken measures to maintain a globally competitive faculty-student ratio while ensuring best-in-class quality.
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is a public technical and research university established by the government of India in 1951. It is the first of the IITs to be established and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance. In 2019 it was awarded the status of Institute of Eminence.
