The entrance test for PG admission in medical institutions i.e NEET-PG is going to be replaced by the National Exist Test (NEXT) which will be held in the final year of MBBS/BDS. It is introduced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) through the NMC Bill in the Lok Sabha on 22nd July.
As NEET-UG is the entrance exam for MBBS/BDS and NEET SS is for post-graduate-level admission, so from now, a common exit exam will be conducted in the final year instead of a separate entrance exam to get admission into the PR super-specialty courses as per the bill. The advantages of this exam are that it will be the exam for PG courses in medicines, grant license to practice medicine as a medical practitioner & for enrolment in the state or national register, even foreign medical qualifiers can obtain a license to practice medicine through NEXT.
The appeal for a bridge course for Ayush practitioners to practice medicine to a limited extent, which was a temporary part of the NMC bill in 2017 is canceled now.
