Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is synonymous with excellence in higher education. Over 28,000 students - from 57 different nations - live, learn and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district. Manipal, popularly known as the international university town of today, made its beginning with the establishment of a medical college in the private sector, viz., Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, that was established in the year 1953. It was the first self-financing medical college in the private sector in India.
