Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Ongole

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Andhra Pradesh Government, Medical and Dental Institution converting them into Semi-Autonomous Institution under the Act No.31 of 2007, published in Andhra Pradesh Gazette vide reference No.26 January 23, 2008. The Government has issued orders for construction of new Medical College and Hospital viz., Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Ongole with an estimated cost of Rs.25 crores Sanctioned in G.O.Ms.No.210 HM&FW (E1)Dept., Dated 27-05-2007.G.O.Ms.No.210 HM&FW (E1)Dept., Dated 27-05-2007.accorded administrative sanction for Rs.125 crores for construction of new Medical College and Hospital at Ongole, Prakasam District viz., Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Ongole District Collector & Magistrate has identified and handed over the site to an extent of 37.46 acres in survey No.68 of Pelluru Village, Ongole Mandal pertaining to Nagarjuna Sagar Project in which Staff Quarters & Offices of Irrigation Departments were existing. The foundation stone was laid down on 01-07-2007 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Late Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy garu. The APHMIDC., Government of Andhra Pradesh have undertaken the construction of RIMS., Ongole and entrusted the construction work to M/s LANCO Infrastructure, Hyderabad vide Letter no.216/APHMHIDM/DEE-2/AEE-3/2007-08/5863;5864 and 5865 Dated 26-12-2007. The erstwhile District Headquarters Hospital, Ongole with 200 beds was taken over under the administrative control of Director, RIMS, Ongole from 01-10-2008 and shifted to New RIMS premises at Bhagya Nagar with 300 beds.
