In India's dream of Mahatma Gandhi's dream, there was also a dream to honor Hindi as the national language. He had said that without any national language, any nation gets crippled. In the first World Hindi Conference held in Nagpur (10-14 January 1975), the resolution was passed that Hindi should be given as official language in the United Nations and an International Hindi University should be set up in Wardha. . In the Second World Hindi Conference held in Mauritius in August, 1976, it was decided that a World Hindi Center should be established in Mauritius, which can coordinate the activities of Hindi in all the world.After the Fourth World Hindi Conference (December-1993), the World Hindi Secretariat was established in Mauritius and it was understood that the establishment of an International Hindi University in India was required to give an embodiment. It was possible in 1997 - when the Indian Parliament passed an Act, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University was established in the Karmabhoomi Wardha of the Father of the Nation. From the establishment of this university, a longing of Bharatendu Babu Harishchandra was also fulfilled which was in his mind and mind. He was craving 'to establish a pure Hindi university from his industry'.
