Government College of Engineering, located in Amravati, is counted amongst the oldest institutes of engineering in Maharashtra, India. The college was formed in 1964 Maharashtra Government. It is officially certified with the Amravati University.The institute is known for its recognized research centre for PhD programmes in a number of areas. The institute offers academic facilities with 7 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate programmes in various disciplines, all of which are certified by the NBA. It maintains 7 branches of Engineering. The institute offers full-time as well as part-time programmes.In 2012, it was placed on the 45th position in the category of in Outlook India's Top Engineering Colleges.
