The Placement Season commences with the Summer Placements for the 1st year students in the 1st week of October while the Pre-Placement Presentations for the Final Placements are carried out simultaneously. This is followed by the Final Placement Process for the 2nd year students in the first week of December. The slotting policy for the visiting companies has evolved in the past years of DoMS’ existence.Factors playing a vital role in deciding the order of visit to the campus are:

• Compensation offered
• Repute of the visiting company

IIT Madras is a residential institute, provides accommodation to all its students in 18 independent hostels. It provides accommodation facility to the boys and girls with all necessary facilities. The Hostel Office is located within the hostel premises. Every student who has been admitted to the institute is required to pay the prescribed hostel seat rent and establishment charges along with a refundable hostel mess caution deposit.
