About:

Dakshina bharat hindi prachar sabha was established in the year 1918 by Mahatma Gandhi. The institution was started to teach Hindi in southern states. It is deemed university. The idea of emerging Hindi language comes when there is a freedom struggle in attempting to have a single language as the national language. The sabha becomes independent in the year 1972 and Gandhiji remained president till he died. In 1936 the sabha then moved to Thyagaraya Nagar, Chennai. In 1964, the sabha was recognized as the "Institute of National Importance" by Government of India.
