Supreme Court extends deadline: Admission in Technical Institutions
The admission of the qualified J&k students for various technical institutions postponed by a month to 15th Sep 2019 under the PM special scholarship scheme.
A total of 5869 scholarships are offered to the J&K students to get admission into any undergraduate course in college across the country for 2019-20 academic session from which only 3672 students joined the allotted institutions. There are still 2401 students who are qualified but can't report to their respective colleges before the last date that is on 15th Aug due to the current situation of J&K.
As we all know that recently the state J&K divided into union territory of J&K and union territory of Ladakh. So the situation of the region is under various restrictions including imposition of prohibitions under section 144 CrPC and movement of a person, suspension op phone lines, mobile & internet services and other forms of communication in various parts of that region from 5th Aug cleared by the petition.
J&K's standing counsel advocate M Shoeb Alam made it possible by consulting about this topic with a bench of justices U U Lalit and R Subhas Reddy. Alam explained the situation of J&K and how the students are stuck in this situation. Finally, the bench of justices of the supreme court granted his plea and extended the time of admission by 1 month.
